So I have a 2015 Mustang Gt with 30k miles, with a Whipple gen2 2.9 on a 10 rib kit with Ati balancer with arp bolt. I used red loctite on the bolt and only used a torque wrench to seat it and torque it to 120ft/lbs. I even checked it recently and the balancer was still fully seat and torqued to 120ft/lbs. So the 25th I went wot throttle and at 7600rpm the crank snout broke. Engine shut down by itself and it was quite a noise it made.
Wondering to how many has this happen with forced induction?

Would this happen to a turbo setup?
And where can I get a gen2 longblock? They’re out of stock

Shouldn't happen with a turbo setup as there is no external pressure/force on the crank.

As far as a long block, good luck. Unfortunately, they seem to be difficult to find and even more difficult to get accurate delivery timing.

Pretty sure ford has a tool specifically for seating the balancer properly so it doesnt cause any stress to the crank when re installing it. Its like a long threaded stud that screws in completely with a nut and washer to draw it onto the crank. I could be wrong but I would assume the coyote method. Sucks, sorry to hear about the bad luck. I wanted to go 10rib and 20% balancer but holding out.

I have seen it happen on a turbo car personally as well.

Also be interesting to know if the turbo car had ever had the factory fit balancer removed / replaced.

I’m running a carb legal procharger kit with a 20% overdrive balancer for years now without any problems. I understand that it’s a possibility and I’m ok with that.

7600rpm so did you bounce off the limiter? Or have you Hit the limiter a few times? Hitting the limiter is a very big nono

Sorry im a bit confused but why would you need a new long block? Wouldn't you just need a new crankshaft?

Same here.. I don’t have any pictures of the broken snout on the turbo car but it was a big power car running 8s as well and did have an aftermarket crank balancer

Another turbo car, user on here; was embedded in a vortech thread, which also had a stock car with 514 miles break the crank.

I am going with a callies for my build, concern was this happening. However it seems to be random, as low power, high power, TT, blower NA, it happens. There is theory that it could be improper install of balancers.
