Yeah. Didn’t see that coming. I got re think my game plan now. I’m thinking stock long block is probably going to be what I’m looking at, but I’m going to weigh all my options at this point

Same car. Went with a procharger because I wanted something that was easier to maintain and more of a turn key setup. At the time I was working at a performance &tuning shop, but I knew I wouldn’t be staying there. I hated working there. Anyway I wanted something that would be better suited for me after I left that shop, so w went with the procharger and have zero regrets about it. I still love the way the procharger performs on that car and cannot wait to get it back on the road!

I just saw this and it hurt my heart in ways I havent been hurt in a long time LMFAO.

Sorry to see this. Realistically any of the procharger installs we do we recommend a support kit such as MFP to be used.

Well looks like i should start looking for a different FI setup since no one makes a crank support for the Gen 1 procharger kits, lol.

I'd try the predator crank, Ford thinks it's strong enough to run a blower.

This is a previous post by Terry "Beefcake" Reeves on Mustang6G:

We have sold more blowers than anyone over the last 10 years on these cars, I'd venture to guess 6-8000 kits, and the number of cranks that have actually failed that customers have messaged me on is probably 3.

That's all brands. I get its the hot new item, and people like peace of mind. And of course we'll sell them if people want them. But I think the hype is a little overblown
I think on lower HP and pressure set ups (I am guessing 700 whp and 10 psi or less) the breakage is probably minimal. If the failure rate is 3 in 7,000, I am ok with not running the crank support, but I don't fault anyone for doing so.

All of that aside, there may be another consideration. Back in the early days of centrifugal superchargers (early 90's), we were experiencing significant front main bearing wear in the direction of load from the blower in a short amount of time. This may not be such an issue on the modern 5.0, but it certainly was back then.

Should have my long block in the next day or two. It will still be a couple of weeks for the install though. I have yet to order my oil pump gears, cyl head cooling mod, t stat, gt350 chains & boss tensioners, various fluids, and new belts. Oh and spark plugs

TGGT,

Please keep us in the loop on your progress. I think we are all feeling your pain and hope you get this up and running.

Like in my early years, you may have to stock on Ramen noodles for while !

New long block showed up today. I’m surprised that it came with all the sensors and new di injectors. Just waiting on my opg’s to show up and a couple of other goodies and it should be good to go!

$4’600 out of my pocket! It stings a little, but I’ll be glad to have it running again.

But you have to admit a great value and still cheap , relatively.
Even compared to other Ford /FPP products
for example, $13K for alluminator which is just rod and piston upgrade .
you could probably “upgrade “ this to Alluminator specs for couple grand or just do drop in pistons for half of that
