Ford Performance Tune for 2018+ GT

I just looked, can't see much air being pulled from that vent. Just seems silly to me, I don't need to see the filter and can't believe there is any performance advantage. Is retaining the stock box an option? I'm thinking about purchasing...

The advantage of it is the cone filter. More surface area so more air being sucked in. I like that it's actually a paper filter, so it gives good filtration. The stock air box doesn’t draw in as much air. For this to affect performance or not, I don't know. But if people see gains from a more free flowing filter then I'm sure there is.

That's why I like the gt500 airbox. Closed lid with the larger cone filter.

Went for a cruise. 77° outside. IATs while driving highway are 83°. I think that was consensus back when kit came out, like 7-8° higher than ambient, even in the summer. But when you are at idle in the summer, like ~150° or higher lol

Has anyone else noticed occasional jerky shifting with this kit with the automatic trans? Sometimes when I floor it to get up to speed and then let off the gas, the car seems to jerk forward and back, so much so that I can feel my foot coming off and back on the pedal. It feels like it’s downshifting but holding the revs high and the car jerks front to back at the same time. Happens more often when it’s cold and in Sport mode more often than Track. I tried KAM rest. My procal tool also has adaptive KAM reset and Trans relearn, which I haven’t tried.

I was told not a good idea to use sport mode when tranny's cold even though I don't have ANY tune at this time. How's it when warm?

I am not sure I am getting the lose control feeling with this tune as some say, maybe cause I have not done WOT at all from a stop with this tune

Maybe it helps that I have an IRS lock out kit, but I can feel the extra power available.

So far the A10 shifts are smoother both up and down shift in D and S.

Somehow maybe placebo effect, the cabin sounds quieter with this tune since I now have the sound tube removed?

It’s better when it’s warm. Seems to do it on just the first pull or two in warmer weather and more often if it’s colder outside. So it could have something to do with the car not being warmed up yet. It doesn’t do it in Normal mode at all. I did try driving in Normal for a while before switching to Sport and it was a lot better.

I definitely appreciate the removal of the sound tube; I thought it amplified the DI noises and other “harsh” mechanical sounds more than necessary. Now that it’s gone, the up-front engine/mechanical sound is better, and the intake also adds a lot of induction noise which I enjoy and can hear most in Quiet. Overall Quiet is better sounding than before, and I don’t miss Normal when my young child is in the car (I always run Quiet then, the back seat can be boomy.)

But that would happen with any intake; it's because the air can be that hot a few feet above the scorching asphalt when stationary .

Anybody with a jlt 3.0 catch can? Did the install in the afternoon and the catch can hose sits right on top of the throttle body connector. Should i be concerned?

You should be fine but talk to JLT if they have a relocation kit.
