If I recall, you have a set of ramps? If so, get the front end up on ramps and see if you get any oil runoff. If there’s anything still sitting in the belly pan, it will run off when you get the car on an incline. Since the leaking only happens when you drive, my guess is there’s still some oil hanging around from when it spilled and driving around gets the residual moving around . As others have said, it can hang around for what seems like forever.
Hey Mark, Unfortunately my rhino race ramps don;t work for the front of the Mach 1, worked great on my 15GT but the front spoiler on the Mach hits. So I lift on pinch weld and put stand under K-member then do the same on other side. Pain in ass compared to ramps!
I like your idea, I'm going to put it on stands this afternoon and see what happens overnight.

Bummer that your Rhino Ramps don’t work the for Mach. If you want a nice set of ramps that will work with the front of the Mach, these are fantastic. I believe a few other Mach owners have these and my brother in law is able to use mine on his C8

Bummer that your Rhino Ramps don’t work the for Mach. If you want a nice set of ramps that will work with the front of the Mach, these are fantastic. I believe a few other Mach owners have these and my brother in law is able to use mine on his C8

I’ve not seen them locally. JEGS and Summit I think both sell them as well but I believe they’re just drop shipped from Race Ramps.

So I did an oil change last weekend on my 21 Mach 1, its my 6th one and I do them all laying on my garage floor.
This time I noticed a slight leak on my garage floor every time I go for a drive. I clean it up and find another one on next drive. (doesn't leak unless I go for drive.) I Spilt a lot of oil when removing filter so I thought that may be it trickling it's way out but now I don't think so. I lifted the car up again and looked by the filter, no leak. Seems to be dripping off the edge of the plastic skid plate which is directly under the oil pan plug. See Pic. No drip from plug but it's on plastic. Is it possible the UPR drain plug O-ring is bad or something and slight amount of oil is coming out after pressure builds up from a drive. I've had this plug in since my first oil change. I'm at the point where I'm just going to go to my dealer and grab the factory one and dump all the 10 quartz into a very cleaned oil pan and then refill with same oil but what a pain in the ass!
Anyone experience this with a Bad plug?

Not being someone to spend $50 on a drain plug I don't have first hand experience.
I do have a few thoughts.
1, I'd consider replacing the o-rings to see if that fixed it.
2, I thought those things have a lifetime warranty? Perhaps call them before doing anything else.
3, I've only ever used one of the "quick change/drain" type things that came on a truck I bought. It never saved me any time or mess compared to a normal drain plug. And I was always worried it would fail...
Pricey, but having that magnet is very important. You chimed without having any experience? My apologies OP… I haven’t had any issues with my UMR plug. Have you tried going back to the stock plug to see if it leaks? Got a shop vac? Dont even need to drain the oil to swap plugs…

There's no need for you to apologize for me.

I said up front I had no experience with that particular plug but suggested the o-rings be replaced. Guess what, if you'd have read the whole post you would know that after checking with the company the OP did, in fact, order o-rings. Experience or not, I would call that helpful. Also, if you had read the whole thread you would know another member had recommended that vacuum hack a couple of pages ago.

Yes. I've never sucked up oil. It's just pulling air through the drain.

Sorry about the o rings. I bet you can find some at the local hardware store though. I would probably hassle UPR about it considering mine has never leaked.
Just have to be sure the o-rings are neoprene as they're oil-resistant; plain rubber ones aren't.

Don't drain your oil! You can thank me in advance for this awesome tip, which I have used to swap my drain plug when I got my UPR plug.



Your welcome! I also use it to check if any metal makes it to the magnet mid oil change, after events.

Also, when I spilled oil from my filter (I have since got a filter drain kit from another member on here which prevents spilling all over the top side of the cover), it leaked initially right after the oil change, than again after driving the car for a while. It took two oil changes for the leaking to totally stop. I guess I got a lot of oil up in that pan. I still would never go back to stock.

Mine leaked to my garage floor for 3 days, then once a week after the dealer did my 1st oil change. Spilled a lot in my belly pan I suppose.

I know this thread is nearly 2 years old now BUT i also have a UPR twin oring sump plug that leaked, what i did (which seems to be holding up just fine) is remove the 2 x orings and wrapped some thread tape nice and tightly around the section where the orings go then refitted the orings and refitted back to the sump, is alot tighter fit now and so far has done the job, no leaks🤟🤟🤟🤟

I'm glad things worked out for you and wish you the best, but I'd look to replace the rings the next time the plug is removed.

- Teflon tape can sometimes split, becoming "stringy" and breaking apart. If part of a threaded assembly and outside the environment that is the inside of an oil pan, great. If exposed to it, I'd be concerned about how it will react over time

- It reads like the root cause to the problem and others is the O-rings shrink over time, from exposure to heat cycles, oil and various contaminants. That's not a surprise. Or a flaw of the design. It is what it is

In August of 2024, I contacted UPR and asked about a replacement schedule, how often we should replace the o-rings. The following is their response:

"We recommend clean, inspect, and replace as needed. We do offer spare O rings of the correct size and material on our website.

Because the stock plug has no magnet. And these motors like to shed steel.

FWIW, my stock plug leaked, and as long as I swapped orings every once and a while on my UPR plug, it never leaked. And I could wire it so I never had to worry about it backing out. I think Ford recommends replacing the oil plug every oil change.

After the first Exxon Valdez-level disaster changing oil on my then new '19 F150, I installed the fancy Ronin plug. Worked great for several years, but it didn't have lock tabs like the yellow factory plug and I was paranoid about temperature differentials of the pan and aluminum plug.

I then went to the one linked above, which has lock tabs. Controllable oil flow when doing a change, what a concept.

For me, I have tried the Ronin, UPRs (2 different one), they all seeped. I just put the OEM YELL plug in last winter and now: Zero Seeps/leaks. BUT< I know there is a mess coming when I change my oil again in March.
