I know, two completely random questions.

1. So the drain plug. I keep seeing on here where people have this weird drain plug with some sort plastic clip/contraption. Would that be standard on 2017? I have the regular old drain plug bolt. Nothing fancy, no plastic in sight. The car only had 1100 miles on when I bought it, so I doubt the drain plug was changed out. Thoughts?

2. The key fob. Is there a way to disable the alarm button? Can I turn it off in Forscan? I keep setting off the alarm when something bumps the pocket where the fob is. It's annoying as all get out.

The attached image is from several years ago on mustang6g. It's what I successfully worked from. I did manage to find a nylon washer of the appropriate size at a local hardware store. I don't think that the fob needs to be disassembled this far. I believe that the panic key will just pop out and you can add the washer ... which blocks the panic button from being activated.

The plastic drain plug was initiated in 2018, when the 5.0 engine went to a composite oil pan instead of a metal pan. So on a 2017, your regular old drain plug is correct and completely fine.

I'll give that a try on the spare first. Many thanks

Ah. That explains it.

Somewhat related note here - especially @samd1351 with a 2017. I assume you have the security access/keyless with the pad on the doors.
How's your battery life?

I have a 2019, bought in 2020, so realistically my fob is now 2.5yrs old or so, and the range is horrible and barely can get the windows open by holding long "unlock" from across the parking lot. I know battery replacement is my first go to, but have you guys had issues?

I have not had any issues so far. We've had to replace the battery in both my wife's Cherokee fobs though. It's a 2016.

Try this first before you go ripping into your keyfob:

Forscan Panic Alarm settings:
726-37-01 xxxx xxx2 xxxx Panic alarm on fob enabled
726-37-01 xxxx xxx1 xxxx Panic alarm on fob requires 2 presses
726-37-01 xxxx xxx0 xxxx Panic alarm on fob disabled

After 8 months of inadvertently setting off the panic alarm, I bought the Forscan recommended elsewhere on Mustang6G ( OBDLink EX FORScan OBD Adapter) and after getting the 2 month free license found the BCM
726-37-01 xxxx xxx2 xxxx codes. However my format was
726-37-01 xxxx xxxE xxxx which is different in that it had a letter instead of a number. I found that when selecting the second BCM it gives a word list of all the functions, and here under "panic" were words for three choices" enabled, two presses, & disabled. This selection worked flawlessly for me.
2021 GT 5.0 with the 6 speed.

Yes you can turn off the alarm response in Forscan. There are three options:

1 click and it goes off (default)

Double click and it goes off (I use this one and have not had an accidental alarm since)

Completely disabled.
