You say you spilled a lot of oil when removing the filter. What I've seen from that is it will leak at the rear where you are saying it does and it even will get on the oil plug and make it look like it leaks. This is why I do all my own oil changes and use a home made oil filter funnel. Otherwise you get what you have now. Here's a link to the oil filter funnel I made: https://www.mustang6g.com/forums/threads/my-homemade-oil-filter-funnel.170506/

You say there are no drips on plug! Clean the oil off the top of the plastic shield first. A tablespoon of oil will drip for what seems like forever. A little got on it from the filter change and wind/gravity is making it drip off the back. Do the easy stuff first! Jim
Oh believe me I’ve been investigating this line a true crime detective! Lol
I wiped the area when I lifted the car back up, also wiped up the plug.
Driven multiple times since and yesterday day when I saw drips again, I wiped with a broomstick and rag and I swiped the plug and it seemed to have some fresh oil on it. It’s just really weird how it’s collecting along the entire edge of shield before dripping .
I plan on removing entire shield to investigate further before replacing plug

I've been thinking about using an about 3 inch hole saw on the end of the belly pan, cutting a half circle under the oil pan drain plug so that when the oil drains it doesn't want to go inside the belly pan. I usually stuff rags up there but if done tastefully a half circular notch would not be noticable and be less mess. Ford designed it to drop on the end of the belly pan. 🙄

This is a good idea! I’m going to do that when I remove mine this weekend

I have this version of the UPR plug.

https://www.uprproducts.com/upr-for...for-mustang-f150-raptor-edge-explorer-bronco/

Done a few oil changes and have not had any problems with the plug.

I have however experienced the drip you're concerned of.

My first oil change was probably like most peoples': attempting to control the rush of hot oil escaping the engine. I had a drip similar to yours, but when I checked the plug, it seemed secure. I then noticed some oil in the general area of the oil filter, on the belly pan.

After fishing a rag in-between the belly pan and the engine, I found the source of my leak: oil that had splashed up onto the belly pan, and was now drifting to the end, the edge. At first glance, it appeared to be a leaking filter or a plug. But it wasn't.

I cleaned as much of the belly pan without removing it and have not had any issues since. As others have done, I now stuff rags along that edge. Cutting a half-moon below the plug sounds like a great idea.

Replacing the O-rings over time is something I need to refresh myself on.

Did this drip happen over and over after cleaning. I have gone on 4 trips and had the same drip come back only after driving. Car has sat for 2 days now with no oil to be found

Isn't the ford throw away drain plug like 15 bucks? I would just buy a new ford plug before I spend 20 for just replacement o rings
Yep that is what I do. I think its like $11 bucks.

Honestly I wouldn't touch those aftermarket drain plugs with a 10' pole. I just replace the reliable stock drain plug every oil change.

Trust me my friend, I know the UPR looks fancy but the stock plastic plug gives me peace of mind. Anyways good luck with UPR drain plug. :like:

I had a UPR plug on my explorer, the dumb ass tech at the dealer broke it. Luckily I saved the OEM plastic plug and threw it in the glove box. At first I was going to buy another one, but then I thought, it was only a matter of time before another idiot tech doesn't know how to open them and breaks it again.

The OEM plug drains a lot faster than the UPR does. The UPR drains thru the plug thru a 3/8ths hole where as the OEM has a much larger hole to drain out of because you actually take out the plug.

I have the old style UPR where it's looks the same as oem plug and completely comes out, not some drain hole release valve shinanigans
