.....So, for the past 30 years, this condition has been bothering customers and Ford Engine Engineering has obviously investigated it to the point service bulletins have been issued saying the ticking is "normal" yet no one for Ford Engineering has ever spilled the beans what the noise actually is? Come on current or retired Ford Engine Engineers, some one has to know the truth. Why the mystery?

Hello everyone,

Would like to ask you about your experience with Ceratec.

Does it really help to erase the typewriter tick?
Do you need to apply it every year or does it lasts?

Today I changed an oil to a different brand to see if it helps the tick.
Will see in upcoming miles if it helps.
My mechanic told me he has good experience with this oil (Yacco).

But If it doesn’t then I would for sure like to try Ceratec.

Thanks everyone for your answers!
I have a 2020 pp2. It happened after the first oil change then a lady, at the dealer, told me to use the attached filter, 44,000 miles later it is still going strong. Are you talking about this in the attached video? If you are, mine was fixed by using this filter for every oil change.

Yes, it’s the same sound.
So yours immediately went away just by using different oil filter??
You didn’t do anything else to it? Not even changed oil to a different brand?

That's not the engine. That from under the car. No oil fixes that. If was in the bay it would be a problem in like 2 mins.

True… I just listened to the sound again and mine isn’t so rythmical. On idle mine is quite random.

I couldn’t attach the whole video. It was coming from the engine.

Just put in one bottle and call it a day. It works for you or it doesn't. 1 can in my 2018 and the tick went away in seconds. Then i learned i only needed to add it every other oil change before i noticed anything. Then i just started adding a half a bottle each oil change and its never come back. Don't waste your money putting in two bottles of it. The only thing it will hurt is your wallet.

Well lucky you… I guess for some people even Ceratec didn’t work… I hope that mine won’t be this case.

Nope, didn’t do anything else. During the course of the noise I filed a claim with Ford and was told that it’ll go away which it didn’t till the tech at the Ford dealer suggested that to use this filter. Was told by Ford it’s normal that it’ll not affect the performance of the car. Noise was annoying especially when sitting between 2 cars at the light.😞….if this is the same noise you’re experiencing, give this filter a shot. Good luck!

Sorry…the response to the first question is YES! It went away immediately.

It would have to have the rhythm of the actual engine to be from the engine. That would be way more horrifying than what is shown there. Dunno. You all can believe what you want.

Strange… I haven’t seen anything regarding this tick and oil filter anywhere… This is the first time I’m seeing an oil filter related to this.

Some people have had luck getting rid of the tick by switching back to the metal drain plug from the plastic one

Had the tick after the dealer did an oil change. Having already read about Ceratec, I went straight to the auto part store, and added a bottle in the parking lot. Two mile drive home, and the tick was gone. Now I put in one bottle with each oil change. Tick has never returned.
