Are there any s550 owners out there with the engine tick who have put a lot of miles on the car with no issues?
No issues as in no excessive oil consumption, no power loss, or performance issues. My 2020 GT short block was replaced under warranty (at 14k miles) for excessive oil consumption and scoring in cylinders, and that engine had the "tick" ever since the 1st oil change. Now...I just had my 1st oil change on the NEW (2nd)engine, and guess what...the tick showed up on this one too, same scenario, after the 1st oil change and it was not there before. I wanted to see if anyone else has it and their engine has been running strong with a lot of miles with no oil consumption.

I have the tick and my car has 47,500 miles on it. Yes, it consumes oil. More now than it did before so I am going to have the engine checked (spark plug condition, compression test and cylinder scoring) to make sure the 1 to 1.5 qt per 4000 miles is normal usage and not due internal issues.

I think 1 to 1.5qt of oil consumption every 5k miles is pretty normal, even more so if you drive spirited and do a lot of WOT/pulls. My 1st engine was going through 1qt ever 1000 miles which is why I had the dealership look into it. That led to them finding severe scoring and burned oil residue in the cylinders with contaminated spark plugs. I don't think the tick was related to the scoring or oil consumption, but something completely separate.

Mine ticks on oil change and then it goes away. It consumes maybe 3/4 qt of oil per 5k, but so did my Infiniti (from new to 150k) and that was the best engine I ever had in a car 🤷

@Albertcado

I started this thread a few weeks back and it has quite a bit of owner input from 2015-2017 Owners:

https://www.mustang6g.com/forums/threads/2015-2017-s550-coyote-5-0-ownership-input.172517/
Thanks this is awesome. But not many are mentioning if they have the tick or not which is what I'm concerned about. I'm on my 2nd engine which both have the tick from the first oil change so I'm a bit concerned. Hopefully this one won't consume oil so I'll update yall in a few thousand miles.

put ceratec in your oil every oil change. 2 bottles , ive got 50k miles and had the worst tick but ceratec removes the tick. And I now have 770 rwhp no problem.

3/4 to 1 qt every 5k is ideal and really good in fact for our v8s.

I have it on my 18. Not a lot of miles on mine but i have a gen5 whipple and 26k on the odo. I run 5w30 amsoil signature rather than 5w20 and i prefer the thicker oil greatly.
