I hope this hood vent will finally solve my coolant/oil temp issues at track days. The larger rad, oil cooler, and ducting wasn't enough, so I'm hoping this does the trick. Road America, 4/29-5/1...fingers crossed!
That's commitment. The way the weather is now it might still be reasonably cool at the end of the month. Are you going to record your sessions? Haven't seen any videos of ecoboosts at RA

I have an Harrop oil cooler, mounted parallel to the ground, with an oil temp sensor on the ā€œoutā€ oil line
The highest that i ever saw on track was 260* on a 105* day
Still relatively high isn’t it? Dunno how effective that cooler is but that’s probably close to 300* when the oil drops into the sump?

Not that the oil can’t take it but the engine will have more margin of error on cooler oil.

Yeah I was a little confused by this too.
@luc when you say sensor mounted on the "out" line...is that out of the filter or out of the cooler? Sensor should be on the hot side, correct? Just coming out of the filter?

Not sure what you mean by ā€œ oil drop in the panā€
The oil temperature should be pretty close between sump and coming out of the engine

Out of the engine. Yes, the hot side, not after the cooler

Yes, for sure. In 2018, it was snowing on the first day of the event. I use the Track Addict app, and do record video. Unfortunately, since it's the free version, I don't think I can download the video from my phone. I can get lap times in the low 2:40s, but that is shifting at 5K (stock motor). If the vents work, I'm hoping that being able to shift at 6K, or higher, will shave off a few more seconds.

It looks like the louvers all have a different pitch. What is the thought behind that? Create a low-pressure zone with the first louver to suck air out of the from the rear louvers?

Exactly. Race Louvers has some wind tunnel videos showing the heat extraction. They make different versions. The street version has all the louvers flush with the hood.

As eric said
I use a direct measure from sandwich plate. I measure from the engine and back from the cooler( 20f less).
U need to be proactive of tranny especially with warmer weather and u getting faster.

Thanks Alessandro! I will watch the trans, I know you went through a few.

Does your in-cab factory green/yellow/red dash gauge read identical to your measurement from the sand which plate?
Are you still in the red on that factory gauge, and if so, does your car go into limp mode?
Not sure what I need to do next to cool the engine oil.

Ditto. I used an A-pillar pod to mount it. Works fine. This gauge confirmed that the little Mishi oil cooler appears to have minimal effect on actual oil temp, at least in an Ecoboost.

Is normal to be in yellow /red limit. At the track

My gauge is a real number gauge

There's a lot of info in this thread regarding oil coolers. I'll defer to GT owners as to the absolute best approach for the V8. But I think in the end, it's more about getting cooling air into, and out of, the radiator, i.e., ducting and venting. If you can keep the coolant temps down, the oil temps will follow, to some degree.
