To top it off, an absolutely amazing track instructor that had instructed me last year in my Mustang (and I rode with him in his GT350)….reached out to me yesterday randomly about meeting up to do a track day. He used to race professionally for many years, and brought over his Cobra today (ERA...
I picked up a 2020 Porsche 911 Carrera S back in March. I did a few things to it (suspension, camber plates, exhaust, track wheels/tires) and wanted to do a shake-down this track season before letting go of the Mustang. After multiple track days this summer, I absolutely love the 911 and it’s a...
I have a gut feeling, that will not be the last. I’ll be keeping my account open here. :-)
Your FJG M1 is the exact car I’ve wanted, right next to a GT350 in Avalanche Gray.
(I have a gray car collecting problem - Nebula Gray GS350, Incognito Gray IS500, Chalk Gray 911, Magnetic gray Tundra...
Bittersweet day today. My 2020 PP1 has officially sold. I purchased it new in Nov 2020 primarily for a fun/track car. After a ton of research on here and TracckMustang, the car was modded for track and performed pretty dang well! We had a great 8K miles together. The new owner is a 76 yr old...
Heat is bad. These are pretty heavy cars. Anything we can do to eliminate heat will only benefit the performance, safety, and IMO, cost.
Tires are what now, $1500 a set of four, and last 6-7 days if you’re lucky. Pads, $500. Good rotors are $1800 that last 25+ days….seems like a deal compared...
Stock rotors with 300+TW tires and stock pads on a low speed/low brake track with a novice driver maybe last a few weekends. Mine warped very quickly with the minimum brake pad a car should have on track (R10’s).
IIRC, my stock brake pads lasted 3 x 20 min sessions. Rotors were right behind...
Yes, this exactly. My stock rotors didn’t last but a few track days on crap tires…..after I installed SuperCar3’s and GLOC R10’s, the Baer Sports, 3 x the cost, same exact results. My current GLOC R12’s would’ve probably chewed through rotors even quicker. Going from 145MPH to 45, every 60...
True, but you do that a LOT less often than with Baer’s, or the other cheap alternatives. Running stocks/cheaper alternatives doesn’t make sense if you use your car hard.
The stock Brembo calipers are great when paired with Steeda 2PC rotors, and GLOC R12’s front and R8/R10 rear, I’m sure just...
You’ll be happy, I’m sure. Buy once, cry once.
On the S550, I made the Baer Sport mistake, figured since they were $600.00 (fronts) they’d last a decent while. 2 track days and the cracks came quickly.
Yanked them off and went Steeda 2-pc, which worked excellent.
I’ll be ordering the Girodiscs...
2020 Mustang GT, Premium, PP1, A10,
Magnaride
I’ll post the window sticker once I find the pic with all the options.
Track ready, adult owned (by me, since brand new) ready for a new home. 100% housed in a temperature controlled garage. Driven in light rain only a few times. Car runs, drives...
Yep, I’d jump to an R10 in the rear. I bet if you pop off those rotor rock shields, you’ll notice a rotor temp drop that’s significant. Doesn’t take much time at all to do, as it’s only 2 bolts IIRC.
I would move to a better rotor setup. You can bump to a higher temp pad, G16/G18 will only gain 200/300 degrees. (1800 to 2000). Do you have any brake cooling mods? I pulled my rotor rock covers, and ran the larger wind vanes that a member on here sold, they bolt right up, and I think that...
Yeah, you got a shit ton of laps out of your components! That’s great!
Steeda 2pc or Girodisc will save you $$ in the end I bet.
I’m not sure how much you’d notice a performance difference though, since you aren’t coming from a high MPH brake point, unfortunately. The Steeda’s and R12’s probably...
Yeah, that’s a small track. We’ll hit your max speed 4-7 times on our tracks, much more taxing on the cars cooling systems and brakes…I went through the stock rotors on the S550’s, blew through Baer, and finally landed on Steeda 2-pc rotors with R10’s and R12’s (1 season). The Mustang was so...
IIRC, are you overseas with somewhat of a smaller track layout? Both the tracks I frequent are 1.5 MI and 2.0+ miles long, 11 corners flat for one, 14 corners banked on the other, respectively…the shorter track has 2 straights, IIRC the Mustang was 130MPH/140MPH on the shorter track, and then...
