What is everyone's rain tire preference? PS4S? ESC02? Full tread AO52's?
full tread A052 is usually the right answer. If it is cold and raining hard, ECS02 is definitely faster. Surprisingly, if it’s cold enough and raining hard enough, an all season starts to be competitive. One thing about A052 is that you don’t want to go super wide. 295 is definitely hydroplane limited.

I was second fastest thing during this miserable cold day:

295 half dead yokos. A mini on fresh ECS02 was killing me. There have been warmer rain days where I FTD or near FTD on yokos and ECS02 gang is in the dust.

edit: and I’ve seen lots of data that RZ isn’t it in the rain. Might be less bad than tires of the past, but not “good”.

Well thanks. Now I regret getting MP4S vs Yokes for daily tires a month ago. 285 yokes would be pretty fun on cold weather daily drives or rain events.

Maybe I can resell them locally. Hmm

Well that was an arse of a day-1 at Crows Tour. I only got to test the car at our low speed lot where most things are ~30mph and peaks of 50ish. It was ok there, and missed our local Packwood event due to weather/fam excuses.

With the extra power and the way the car handled last year, I brough the bias forward waaaaaaaay too much. All I had today was understeer. Back end never moved. Data shows a composite time of 1sec faster, but it was pick up in one area and then wash out in another. It was so hard to attack knowing the front was just overworked.

Current setup basics,
MCS - 550/600
Steeda 35mm front bar
OEM PP rear bar
315 Vitour X1
Billet front uprights, big wing.

Best setup I had last year without the uprights and wing was,
MCS 550/700
OEM PP Front bar re-drilled (30% stiffer)
No Rear bar
315 A052 (well worn, 2yrs old)

All I can do for tomorrow is pull the upper wing element and raise rear maybe 2 turns. I'll bring tools to flatten out main element even more if needed.

After this event I'll be looking for a front adjustable bar that isnt as aggressive as the Steeda 35mm. I think the whiteline is quite a bit softer (thinner wall and lighter). And then swapping back to 700 rear and remove the rear bar but keep on hand.

Remember the wing isnt doing diddly squat in 30mph anything, so adjusting it may not help.

Most of the aftermarket bars are 35mm but yeah not all created equal.

If you’re understeering, you have some useful shock settings to play with. I’d start there, but maybe land on a ever so slightly stiffer rear bar and/or springs.
