For the first time in several years I attended the Rocky Mountain Mustang Roundup autocross at Pikes Peak International Speedway. This will be one of the last events I'll get to attend at this venue as it's closing after this summer. Lots of great memories there, autocrossing, Track Attack...
My car is setup differently and I have the AJ Hartman front splitter and canards so the aero balance is better, but after changing from my 10" spoiler to the wing I've added 250 #'s of rear spring (divorced location) and gone from full soft on my rear bar to fill stiff to get the car to turn...
I ran a local event yesterday here in Denver. I ended up winning CAMC (out of 6) and finished 5th in PAX (989) out of 162 entries. Solostorm showed if I had put together a perfect lap I could have found another 6 tenths and had the 1000. Still happy with the result. Looking forward to the Rocky...
My quickest two runs from the Spring Nats Tour event in Lincoln. Both were 6th place runs out of 19 competitors. One of the answers I needed to provide YouTube was "Is this for kids? Now that I listen to my comments after the Day 2 run, maybe I shouldn't have answered yes to that question.
Day 2...
I have a Vortech and would agree that the on/off throttle response (especially at part throttle) was not ideal and this may explain most of what I experienced. The car was awesome at full throttle. But any partial throttle situation was just not ideal from a response perspective. Upgrading the...
CAMC get wings so the PAX is worse. Most T cars are lighter and have better power/weight, similar tire, and even suspensions are similar in some cases (IRS installed in several top T cars). There were some amazing T builds at Spring Nats this year. Motors practically in drivers seats, top notch...
Thanks to @NightmareMoon and Zebulon the new rear wing is installed and it definitely works. There will be some front aero and rear suspension tuning required to rebalance the car.
It is, but that top end is sooo special. And there are so many places where having that 8250 redline is beneficial, for 1st and 2nd gear. I believe for a Mustang, the VooDoo is the motor to have for autocross. Add long tubes and e85 and that's the perfect motor.
Talk to 10 people and you'll probably get 10 different answers, but having had a Vortech on my car making 650 to the wheels it just wasn't usable on most autocross courses. I loved the power but was actually slower than I am now NA. I do wish I could add another 50 or so whp as I'm only at 430...
I've done bumper bars and strut bar (lighter version) and removed the washer bottle while I was in there. I can do 2 piece rotors in the rear, the aluminum center section, the rest of the A/C system, stereo and the previous listed carbon parts and the math doesn't add up to 3300 to me. Maybe if...
