You can sign up now (if you're posting here), you'll be on a wait-list and likely get in easily.
I can’t get to Nebraska 😢 Didn’t realize it was that far! Maybe sometime when it’s closer? (Noob here, sorry if some things I say don’t make sense).

If there is anyone left that hasn't cut their hood yet, this thing works really well for that purpose (doing side vents). Milwaukee 2522-20, cut off tool

Nebraska is centrally located.

If you spin a map of the united states on a table, centrifugal force pushes everything away from Nebraska.

You should go, its worth the trip.

i had planned to skip out this year. Planned time off to take care of some other non-autox things this year. I’ll be back in ‘25.

Won't be there this year. If I can't reliably beat my buddy in our own region there's no reason for me to make the drive to Nebraska just to lose even worse. I've got enough nationally competitive drivers and a few winners in our region to tell me my car isn't pax worthy enough yet for that much outlay. That money is better spent fixing some of my prior street car decisions I've made in the build and more seat time locally.

Way to instigate. Also, vents are next on my car, and I have been wondering what everyone used to cut their hoods, so thanks for posting!

I am taking summer off to go through the car again to prep for COTA October-December this year (I have two kids and a wife, so life often gets in the way of race car things LOL). But vents are high on my summer to-do's.

There are National Events, like Beeville and Oklahoma, then there is Nationals, which are always in Nebraska. The SCCA website has them listed. Here is the link:

https://www.scca.com/pages/championship-tour

There is also the Pro Solo, which IMO, is a way more fun format, especially for CAMC cars. You get more runs, it's more "send it" mentality, there is no cooling of tires, no sitting waiting in grid, it's fast paced, and more challenging. You might check out those solo dates as well.

My suggestion, find some national events more local. Something with big concrete. We are lucky to have Beeville so close here in Texas, and Oklahoma just a little bit further away. And a lot of Texas guys like to get out of the hot, and hit Bristol, which is here in two weeks. So like I said, we are pretty lucky in Texas.

One of the best CAMC drivers (IMO) cut his teeth up in either Washington or Oregon, and now lives in Austin. He credits a lot of learning to doing AutoX in the wet. You might be more competitive than you think in NorCal.

Roger! Will do. I need more seat time, I know 100% I am not pushing hard enough or going “all out” yet.

Doesn't your build threat has something like "for Solo Nationals" in it ? 😆

This Milwaukee tool is just about $100 and is substantially better than Dremel, jigsaw, sawzall that I've all tried.

Agree with kz, that tool would have been amazing.
I used a 4.5in grinder with no guard and a cutting wheel combined with a metal blade on a jigsaw.
It worked…but not super duper clean…then again what ever will be.

Nationals is an awesome experience. Burning man for car nerds.

Big wheel prosolo, trasharitas, tractors with downforce, people sleeping on pull out couches they brought from home, “Talent” shows, etc. Everyone should go at least once. Even if you have no chance of winning.

My completely feral 5 and 8 year old children make the ritual of national competition not worth it these days…I’m sure by the time I get back CAM-C people will be as old and weird as CP people.

Do you guys know of any performance parts stores I should visit while down in Orange County/SoCal? Maybe some so I can check out seats…

It does. I've not figured out how to change it :cwl: . Track time got ahold of me, and I am dipping my toes into time trials now LOL...But AutoX will always be bread and butter. Too much fun to be had at AutoX.

And Dana, I agree, those CP people are a unique group!

Yes Time Trials…come to the dark side…can’t wait to join them, they fascinate me.
