Molten aluminum step complete.

IDK how it drives on course yet, but this thing breaks necks for sure. Had a guy pull over and get out before the car even made it out of my welder's driveway onto a public road. Canards broke a few necks the first day I had them out in public but this has to be some kind of record.

Weight is maybe 15-20 lbs or so more than the Lexan bits it replaces, which ain't too bad.

First pics are a black car at night, (more at events later) but I had to share anyway.

They totally do look like street cars, don't they ?

Looks great, much nicer than big ass bare aluminum one. How much AoA adjustment is there ? How'd you set yours ?

Mine looks like this, here without the second element yet (since they didn't send me necessary bolts with it).

That is an aggressive angle of attack. The 2nd element will be damn near vertical when that goes on.

I am going to use all the AoA I paid for ! Seriously though, I have little clue what to set it to, especially with little to none front aero currently. Second element is on, it has some of its own adjustment, I've set it horizontal as I could. This thing seems to work though once the car has speed, especially in transitions. Also, these are smallest endplates they sell.

This is from Sunday, ambient temperature 45F.

Definitely going to want to balance that out with some front aero of some nature. 9 Lives has some info on their site around the effectiveness vs AOA.

New driver running 305/30/19 RT-660’s all around with plenty of negative camber. What range of front and rear hot pressures are people finding that work best? I found some info buried but a fellow driver this weekend had some pressures that were a lot higher than I’ve seen here.

The guy I run against is in the low 30's in his S197 on hot temps.

There were (really good) people in similar cars that ran them really high (37ish psi front), I've ran them at 33.5f/32.5r (maybe +1 psi for both) from what I remember. I tried higher and wasn't a fan.

Here's the info from 9 lives, but with their focus on "track" there isn't any testing above 10* of angle. However without any front aero at all I'd be hesitant to go crazy on the rear wing unless the car is setup super loose in the rear.

do you even hit 60mph in autocross?
We stick to residential zone speed limits, 25mph max.

Seriously though, yes, essentially always. I was at a 72mph 2nd gear limiter on our small local lot with bumps and fences around it number of times, in Bristol Pro last year I was riding it for good 4 second, next run I shifted and was at 78ish before getting on the brake.

You should try doing that while going through a slalom, you'd see the point.

sorry, I meant 60+ in a curve or other non-straight where the very modest downforce has any utility. Even in road courses it's rather uncommon to be over 80 or 100mph in a curve where 'stick' would be helpful.

You can but it's not super common. The thing is that when hundredths of a second count, every advantage has to be sought. We aren't talking a 20 minute sprint race with passing and lapped traffic and tire wear. This is usually 45 to 75 seconds of the best single lap you can put down and if that big wing gets you 260lbs of downforce at 120 and only 40 at 50, then you'll take that 40 if it doesn't cost you time elsewhere on track.
