Glad this is coming up, as I have been curious where to go in terms of sway bars.
Swaybars, spring rates, tire selection, wheel width, and shock valving all factor in. So just because I run one bar setup and Dana runs another, doesn't mean you can copy haly my setup, half his and then mix in your own parts and have the same results.

BMR 38mm on full soft. Before the wing, that much front bar made sense. I'm on GT350R springs, so pretty soft by AX standards.
That makes sense to have that much rear bar with springs that soft. Surprised the car doesn't seem to have more pitch and dive with those springs.

Well, add an OS Gilken to my rebuild list. Diff bushings were shot, might as well rebuild the pumpkin while it's out. I'm excited to check out this fancy diff to see if it's worth the money on an autocross course.
Color me jealous. What's the base S550 Setup? I think I'd probably go with the same ramps on drive/coast with a good bit of preload, maybe 200-250 ft lb. Are they putting in any ramp delay (they might call it negative preload).

I'm really curious to hear where they start you.

The base S550? a Trac-loc clutch LSD. The PP1 and some others get a Torsen T2R

Yeah, I'm just getting it from Shaftworks with whatever Lugod's thinks is best to tune it. He's got a good reputation, and I won't have the time to mess (and certainly not the experience) with it very much. I've just run torsens since forever.

I meant the base setting for the Giken. I'm curious what the initial settings will be.
Yeah I guess I’ll find out. Lugod should already have worked his magic before I receive it. Its not the default OSG tune.

After what felt like forever (6-23-2024 to 8-11-2024) we finally got back to another event. This year I've been working through a lot of minor suspension revisions to find the best balance I can with the equipment I've got. Last event in June saw an increase in that regards after making some swaybar adjustments and I decided to focus this month on some shock calibration changes. I re-mapped the base rates for "race" and built in some digressive valving to the shocks to allow them to try and not get upset too much by the big bumps on the courses we run. This seems to have worked pretty well and I think with a little more refinement I'll have a pretty good setup here. I really wish the datalogging capabilities of the DSC were better or could be more reliably overlayed with video and other logging software. Would really help the process I think.

With those changes in hand we went to face our usual competition (minus 2 top competitors in other classes) and set about remembering how to drive this damned thing. I got a little lucky in that there were some major timing issues and I had 3 runs back to back that didn't count. None of these were my fastest runs but certainly helped me dial in a better line. The same thing happened to some of my top competitors though so this wasn't some magical advantage.

In the end the last run of the day ended up being my fastest. Shocking because after 8 runs in 90 degree heat the poor Yokohamas were probably screaming for mercy despite being sprayed down after every run. The heat was so bad it nuked the go-pro so I don't actually have video of my fastest overall lap. My main competitor in class set his fasted time on his 4th overall run of the day and then slowed down from there. My hail mary last run came through again though and while it wasn't enough to win it was enough to close the gap to under a 1/4 of a second. That margin of error is making me regret those extra trips to the buffet during our July cruise to Alaska LOL. With that final run I ended up with 9th overall out of 106 drivers and 6th overall on PAX adjusted times for classes. Of course the cars ahead were made up of Miatas and CRX's as it's just hard to beat tiny and light weight when it comes to autocross.

Well, at 98k of daily driving, autox, and street, every major bushing and wear item we’ve bothered to check has been worn out shot.

Found the sorry state of the diff bushings a week ago. Couldnt tell much from driving it but yeah they were bad.

We had a good laugh at the condition of the outgoing 98k mile motor mounts today.

New motor is in, and a plausible tune is uploaded. Last checkouts on monday and then we see if it its gonna live again.

Coming to Nats then ? It's under cap currently....

What a better way to break in a new engine :)

It will hopefully be running before then, but, no likely to make it this year.

Plus, I know about 6 autocross and TT friends who have wrecked newly installed motors on various vehicles rushing the break in process. I'd rather not be up against a rushed deadline trying to get this build right.

I was half joking to be honest - with how extensive this is, I wouldn't rush it either. Really impressive and well thought through build. Thanks for sharing details in the build thread.

I mean, the motor is technically already broke in...😂

So excited to see her running @NightmareMoon. My next autox event is a week from now, hoping to have some new upgrades ready (advised by many of you and confirmed with 1OldRacer) and an alignment done before then...if not they will be done before Sept 19 track day. AutoX will be saturday out at Crows Landing, NorCal.
