In my defense it was 1 am and all lanes of the highway were empty.
Except for animals / cyclists / pedestrians / cross traffic / etc, etc.
Seen it all on the highways at night.

BTW there is no defence, you know it, I know it, and buy the lotto for getting off.
But because you did get off, you'll figure you'll get away with it again.
Basic. Human. Mentality.

Sorry I didn't know the speed limits aren't to your liking and nobody was on the road. (except the police) A perfectly good defense, carry on.
Are you a cop? Or just a copologist? Either way, you're trying a little too hard...

That said, 110 in a 55 is probably a bad idea no matter who or where you are, but screw traffic cops... At least the ones pulling people over for going 20 over, but not pulling over the ones dangerously blocking the left lane.

To the OP...I don't believe the negative comments about were directed at you, assuming you didn't have a moment of positive reflection. The comments embracing indulgence came from a few folks that maybe have not been blessed with a stop and think moment yet as you were and seem to have learned from. Growing up in a state/area where deer are prominent (PA), I think back to how fortunate I was many times my life was spared that I'll never know, going triple digits down our rural secondary roads...and at night. What a nut I was.
How about doing 105 mph in a '71 Datsun 1200 (aka B110)? Now that's crazy, but I did do it and yes, I was very young and dumb.

I suppose it depends on the State (or country). In Nevada it is perfectly legal to ignore the left-lane bandits and pass them on the right...

Problem is they usually pace someone in the right lane forcing *you* to pass in the breakdown lane.

who said anything about 110? The OP said “almost triple digits” and anyone on here that tries to claim they haven’t tickled 90-something in a ~400hp 2 door coupe, probably also has a bridge to sell you…jus sayin 😂

Yeah, it's funny seeing the realists versus the "I would never" types in this thread, lol.

Pretty much everyone knows the risks of going fast, but most of us have done it at least once. I mean, these cars don't even have to try to get up in the 90's getting onto an on ramp (that's how I got pulled over), or during a passing maneuver.

Lot of holier-than-thou OSFA britches here. For sure guys, c’mon let’s get real.

If no one was planning to ever give a V-8 Mustang the beans except on a track, the entire aftermarket would disappear overnight. And then by next weekend nobody would ever again buy a Mustang performance variant.

Let common sense prevail. Use your head about what you’re doing and for God’s sake don’t even think about driving impaired. That’s about as good as it’s ever gonna realistically get. Until of course politicians get their way and all motor vehicles are geo-located and subsequently limited to 10 mph over the prevailing speed limit. Don’t think it isn’t coming but at least it’ll make a few of you happy!
They are already trying to make that happen now, limiting how far over the speed limit for newer cars, it's not law yet, but I have already read an article about certain politicians trying to make that happen

If you want to speed, take it to the track. Period.

I honestly never want to speed on a public road, drivers are absolute idiots nowadays and I don’t want my car involved in an accident.
So your telling me you go 70mph on the interstate at 1am ???

I live in rural Texas. Highway 87N is really nice to let a Mustang gallop after you pass Waterville. Back roads here are nice to do a quick sprint, then shut it down. All of this said, I drive the road I'm driving on first. I drive the speed limit and make sure where the patrol is first. I scout my location, traffick and the patrol. We have Sheriffs and DPS Troopers. I have lived here since I was 14. Most people know me. I do a little running at night, but not much. Deer are out and I don't want to get a deer in the windshield. I have to admit, I love my Mustang and want to take care of it.

I'm 61 and have had my share of tickets back when the speed limit was 55. Yes, I have Sammy Hagar "I can't drive 55!" LOL I never had a wreck going fast. It was usually someone running a Stop sign or not know what a Yield sign means and rear ending me. Early morning or dusk is when I go out. It's always on long straight highways. I have actually run with DPS in my young days. DPS running along beside me and we hit the gas for short spell.
I usually set the cruise for 75 and trot down the road. If I do hit the gas it is a short burst just to enjoy the acceleration. I'm not going to preach and point fingers. I'm human and intend to enjoy my car. Most of the wrecks around here is people failing to Yield Right Of Way and running Stop signs. That is one thing I don't do. I Yield like I'm suppose to and I stop when I'm told to.

We have a lot of illegals coming into Texas. These people are getting licenses so they can vote. I have seen more wrecks by illegals with a license but no insurance. My insurance, along with renters insurance is 207 dollars a month. Why? There are lot of people here that have a license, don't have insurance and don't know the traffic Laws. I'm 61 with a clean record.

Just scout the road, look at the traffic and see where everyone is, then go from there. Like I said, I'm not going to get on the pulpit and preach a sermon. Just use Common Sense. I have been driving for 43 years. In 43 years I have had 4 wrecks. One was my fault. I was 21.

Non-Citizens should not be able to get a driver's license.

Just for you I will try a little less so that you can understand. And yes I was a cop for 30 years. And if you want to screw traffic cops have at it.
