Aside from fire retardent material, why wear them? Does anyone use them at the track? Should I get some other than my motorcycle gloves?

If you do not wear gloves for track use, why not?
If you do, what do you recommend?

I do.
My hands sweat a lot and sweaty hands on a leather steering wheel is not too fun while on track. I like gloves just for the added grip.
I've been using my friend's old karting gloves but I intend to get some Sparco gloves at some point

Do karting gloves have the same protection like motorcycle gloves?

Absolutely not. But you don't need motorcycle glove protection in the car. (I know, I've low sided and high sided a bike before and know all too well about motorcycle glove protection)
Just need something to give your hands extra grip. Or at the most, fire protection

Ran some Sparco gloves for while for autox and track. When they eventually shrank, I didn't bother to replace them.

Yes for fire protection, didn't need them for sweat/grip, and its one less thing to pack and deal with.

I bought driving gloves off Amazon. $85. My Steering wheel is CF and Alcantara so I'm not getting sweaty goop all over it.

I've used them for years because I drive big wheels, I also use the push/pull for moving the steering wheel. When driving large vehicles in city settings you can really give your hands a pounding.

The gloves cushion the bottoms of hands greatly.

I don't buy the expensive gloves cause I'm cheap. I buy mine at the truck stops for about 20 bucks. They are leather.
I also wear them when doing yard work and other things that save my hands. I really Iike the fact that I'm able to use fingers since they are not covered by glove.
But I never wear them when drive my personal cars.

Motorcycle gloves serve a different purpose than what is needed in driving gloves. You don't need the physical protection, just need grip.

By all means, try them and see what you think but I think they will be more of a hindrance than beneficial

I use a set of Sparco gloves on the track because everything is fun and games until you're on fire.
Previous to that I used a nice set of leather driving gloves and before that Golf gloves.

Some people don't see the value in gloves but it really helped me as far as grip and driving
comfort over time. I have an extra set of sheep skin ones around here somewhere that never
been used. If your interested in taking them for a spin DM me.

If you're embarrassed to be seen with them just take them off before you get out of the car.
No one will ever know. Personally IDGAF what people think of me.

Use them at the track. And don't care what people think. A matter of fact I got new ones last year. My last ones lasted over 20 years and looked it.

I will be using racing fire retardant gloves and a racing jacket that is also fire retardant.
This way IF my vehicle or someone else's ends up on fire, I can help put it out without getting burned while Standing over it or near it with a fire extinguisher.
