Ok, so the Ford website shows my sync is updated as of 11/07/22, which still shows 22200, so guessing the update didn't change the actual version number. Now it is trying to download the map updates via WiFi. I downloaded the map updates a month ago when they first came out. I just haven't stuck the USB in the car to update, since I haven't driven the car on any drives longer than 30 min. If it updates the maps via WiFi in the next couple of days fine, if not I will update them via the USB, as I go on a 5-hour drive this coming weekend.

My car was built in late July. I updated to the latest Sync3 and it is version 22200. Did that, then later the maps both vie UlSB.

It usually takes 30-60min.
Last Sync update via USB took 42 minutes (PDF instructions said 40 minutes). I have yet to do the maps, but last year they took ~2.5 hours (PDF says 90-120 minutes).

Like others said, good excuse for a drive in the autumn :)

If you have a pair of speedy USB3 drives, you can do both in under 1.5hrs.
This was my time for updating Sync 3.4.22200 and Maps 2 21.

That's true.
My maps updates ran out and I still find them to be not great, Android Auto all they way for me anyhow.

Just did my SYNC update, no changes that I noticed (besides system being slow), I'm sure there won't be much new anyway.
The log file now hides in the SyncMyRide folder, it's not in the main folder anymore.

One thing that I wish for the updates in the future, and I know it'll likely never happen, is give us a programmable key. For example, I rarely use the music note button to mess with my EQ. Instead I use it as a "dummy" home button to get to SYNC from Android Auto, then click climate or home and turn on my heated steering wheel.

It would be awesome if Ford said - "here, we're giving you programmability of this one button." And then it would function like the star/favorite button in many cars such as Kia - turn on / control something that's generally burried in the screen, such as heated steering wheel, display off, etc.
A man can dream!

Great idea but Sync 3 is dead. The only updates we will see at this point are background fixes.

Right. Am aware. "something something Ford's a tech company now."

I thought maybe some of the skilled "hackers" that toy around Forscan a lot could maybe figure it out? Cause I'd think the whole stack goes through a logic controller of sorts, maybe it's linkable?

Speaking of which, I need to get a Forscan I think.

You better not try Sync 2 then.
You'd think so, but ironically the last version of Sync 2, v3.10, was extremely stable and bug-free. I've been using it for six years in my wife's Kuga and it has never missed a beat. I couldn't name one single bug if my life depended on it.
Sure, it was painfully slow, and the user interface was a bit too complicated for automotive use. But at least it worked every time.
I understand there were a few glitches at first, but by the time it got to v3.08 they had all been fixed. That happened over one and half years or so, after which it was fine. Whereas Sync 3 is still buggy after six years. I've just installed the latest release, 22251, and the CarPlay bug is still present. :frown:

Interesting. Did you use Cyanlabs to get 22251 as the latest official update is 22220?

Yes. Actually, not directly from Cyanlabs, but from the Romanian Ford forum, where somebody posted a direct download link. But it's the same link that Cyanlabs would be using.
Since 22220 didn't seem to fix the CarPlay bug, I figured I might give the newer package a shot. But no, no such luck.

One thing I noticed is the logos for the Sirius stations are now displayed, like in my GF's Fusion with Sync 4. I don't recall seeing them in the earlier Sync version but, then again I don't recall a lot of things

Yeah you're not recalling then. :) I think those have been there for over a year, although I never use SiriusXM
