I updated the map in my wife's Lincoln yesterday when I went to get her at the airport. Everything processed fine and while waiting for her to come out from baggage claim got the final screen saying "installation complete". Pulled the flash drive just like the instruction says, shut the car off and waited about a half minute and then restarted it. Then I tried to use navigation and the message was "please complete installation before this feature can be used".

So started it all over again last night coming back from dinner. Left the car running in the driveway because it wasn't done when we got home. Over a half hour later finally had the "installation complete" screen. But I waited another 15 minutes just to be sure. Pulled the flash drive like the instruction say, shut the car off to do the ignition key cycle.

S.O.B!! Still saying, "please complete the installation". It did the same thing to me last time I updated her navigation. I'm going to try leaving the flash drive in next time, then shut the car off for the key cycle and restart it with the flash drive still in place and see if that works.

I'll wait until I get her Lincoln working properly before trying to update the Mustang.

I found during my two previous updates it would actually show that screen twice. Don't remove when you see it the first time. Let it run awhile when you see that first screen; the usb will then become active again and finish the installation.

Last Sync update via USB took 42 minutes (PDF instructions said 40 minutes). I have yet to do the maps, but last year they took ~2.5 hours (PDF says 90-120 minutes).

Like others said, good excuse for a drive in the autumn :)
Which website did you use for the usb download.

Official Ford website, all worked like a charm, XML created both for SYNC (this took a day or two to change on the web iirc) and maps.
Did maps 2 days ago and they took 2h 55 min (whole Europe maps that is).

Well, it's been longer than that and the Ford site still says I need updates. Grrr....
Bummer. In that case I don't know what to say, except to reiterate that Ford should never strive to become a tech company. Their inability to do even simple things properly, which others have been doing perfectly fine for fifteen years now, is staggering.

I updated via USB, uploaded the .xml file and nothing happened on the site. Still said an update was available and also didn't display what version it thinks I have. Then I tried doing it in the car even though it is on the latest and it said no update update available. Had it connect again just for good measure. Then updated via USB again. Did not produce .xml file. Nor on the 3rd try. It does have the tar file to generate the .xml too...
Also, what is the latest map version?

It didn't work for me the first time, I tried maybe 5 days later and then it worked, but maybe I had to wait another 1-2 days for it to show the change online and allow me to proceed to the maps, it's a few weeks so forgot how long it took.

To be fair, the Team updating the code are ex apple employees, That never had to write new code other than the welcome screen model number change on the phone/mac's As the fan bois would buy a pyle of crap if Steve Job's did a ted talk about it.
So they are new to this, updating thing.

If you have build number 22200 stop trying as you have the latest. Should there be another update and you can’t get it just call Fordā€˜s Sync customer service and they will update you.

For maps the latest is NA 2 21.

Oh Vlad, stop your whining already. Just because you have a problem which cannot be resolved. Just sell the damn car already and get a Yugo!

Kidding, of course…..:cwl::crackup::cwl::crackup::like:
