If you can afford a new longblock that's probably the move here. Heads may be savable, but they will have to be removed and checked by a machine shop. A new short block is under $5k, so if you can get away with just that you can save a lot of money.Yup, I have been working on multiple plans depending on what happens. Honestly I would be reluctant/scared to buy a used engine after this fiasco. I don't want another lemon and am not confident in avoiding one.
New long blocks, if you can find them, seem to be $7,500 and up. I see reman ones with a 3 or 5 year unlimited mileage warranty for $5,500 at places like https://fraserengineco.com/5-0-liter-ford-coyote-engines/. Never heard of them before but that doesn't mean much. Lots of great places I have never heard of. Or is my long blick worth trying to have rebuilt or is this a risky move?
I think all the accessories and stuff like intake, starter, injectors etc on the engine now are fine to re-use on a new long block.
I may work on this as my winter project, hiring some help for the pulling and reinstalling steps that require two people including one that has done it on a newer Mustang before.
I just can't stay much longer under this stress and negatively because it takes a toll on me. I am only a few years removed from nearly permanently cashing in my chips over some plugged up heart injectors, i mean arteries.
