Put oil in the cylinders and test again.
I am not touching the car again until I hear back from Mint Auto Sales. I have very low expectations anything satisfactory will come out of this right now. But this will only be the start. At least the car still looks beautiful!

I may pick up a bore scope from Autozone tomorrow and take a look at the cylinder walls.

I expect that if pieces of that CAI nipple I found bouncing around on top of the valves came off that they may have done a number throughout the engine. So not just cylinder heads messed up but the block, pistons, bearings, crankshaft etc feeling the pain too.

Sounds like a very costly rebuild.

Nah, I think this engine was supercharged and beat to death on cheap pump gas is all. The owner dumped it on the dealer and they failed to catch it, or they got it from auction like this and hoped they could find a sucker to unload it on.

been following from your first post about this…

damn, I feel for you on this one. ☹

You took a leap of faith, betting on the honesty of what appeared to be a legit dealer but in turn they used your positive nature to screw you over.

I’m willing to bet they knew all along the car was messed up and figured passing it off on an unsuspecting buyer so far away wouldn’t come back on them.

I effin hate people like that!

I think you need to show that just because you are in WI and they in FL, it doesn’t mean they can’t be held accountable.

do as I mentioned in an earlier reply…
“If you have in writing what the dealership told you, what the car was or wasn't equipped with, then you have leverage.
You can contact your local State Attorney General's office as well as the one in Florida and open a case.
It is free to do as it is a service they provide for customer's protection of the purchase of goods.”

There is no way you should have to deal with their mess nor put another dime into it, let alone a possible full engine rebuild on a car I’m sure you paid a good amount of money for.

it blows, I’m sure, but pursuing the legal side is going to end up less headache then a potential money pit is.

I give you a lot of credit for staying so calm thru this thus far.

Get all your notes, emails and anything else you have together.
Make a short list of problems you found that are evidence of clear misrepresentation by the dealer.
Then, call your’s and the Florida States Attorney General office and open cases.

You can also threaten to get the Feds involved by filing a Fraud Report with the FTC (Federal Trade Commission)

I wish you the very best and hope we get updated soon with some positive news for you 🤗

Try to have a nice weekend

Might be worth a consultation with an attorney, due to the emissions system being tampered with. Used cars, as is or not, the dealer sold you a vehicle that was illegal to run on public roads and im betting the title doesn't state that it's off road use only.

If there ain't a law, there fuckin oughtta be.

I started really sharing details of my problems to various, highly visible sites making sure to only state things I can backup with emails and pictures. I am supposed to hear back from them sometime this evening. I am not going to be rude to them. It is in my best interest to see where it goes. I am very angry inside but just acting on that gets me nowhere. I learned that lesson more times than I can count, maybe even as many times as I quit smoking back in the day.
I didn't hear back from them after their meeting with their boss earlier this evening so I texted them asking if they had the meeting and any update for me. They just said they did meet and that they will contact me tomorrow. I have a feeling that if it was some good news for me, they'd have let me know right away. Delaying until tomorrow tells me I am not going to like what they say and then the gloves come off.

I try to treat people with respect and give them the chance to do the right thing but there are times when that approach is no longer in play.

You’re more patient than I am, that’s for damn sure, lol. Gloves would have came off when I saw the car wasn’t as described and modded all to hell.

Witness number one will be the transport driver who had to have been part if the shitshow upon his getting in the car to drive it into the trailer. Or winched it in depending on what the dealer told him.
Bare knuckle those bastards.

:thumbsup: for how you've been handling yourself and the situation.

All I can offer is

- during any discussion, attempt to find out as much of their position while revealing little of yours

- after stating their initial stance, pay a lawyer for an hour or two of consult to confirm the law and any options

- on the off chance they are willing to 1) buyback 100% +2) pay you a fair and reasonable sum of money for your investigative talents, have a lawyer review that offer (any offer). Even if gifted a fine proposal, I'd be concerned I'm signing something in all the legalese that would come back to bite me

- record everything, with a dis-interested party (friend or neighbor) if possible

Good Luck. :please: Thanks for taking the time to keep us informed.

Still have not heard back from them. I will be pinging them shortly. In the meantime I picked up a bore scope from Autozone and did some scoping. I'll post pics shortly.

I squirted a bit of oil down each cylinder and re-did the compression test. The lowest value is still the cylinder where the foreign object was bouncing around on top of the valves. Based on the cylinder number diagram I found, cylinder 1 right is front left, cylinder 5 is front right. In this case, the values for cylinders 1 and 4 don't make much sense to me in that cylinder 1 is lower with oil and cylinder 4 jumped from 135 psi to 220 psi. Except for the drastic jump is cylinder 4, none of them are anywhere near what they should be. :(

I stuffed a bore scope down the coyote's holes today and took some lame pictures of the scope's display. I could not get an angle to see the cylinder walls worth a darn and the pictures on the display itself were not exactly clear. I did get the sense that the top of the pistons resembled the splatter I leave behind after using my mig welder. A few of the cylinders looked like they had some type of buildup on them and that pieces were missing. Then I thought everything looked like the ultrasounds of my kids and me nodding in agreement with what the doctor was saying she was seeing. Or pictures of Earth from the ISS.

If it were me, every effort would be made to get a full refund plus the time and material I have invested.
Wire fraud is treble damages I believe. These people are about as sleazy as can be and need a good ass kicking.
When you are done there should be plenty to buy a real nice car in the color of your choosing.
And don't settle for them offering cash and a new engine. That car is done.

I pinged them at 1:30 PM today (Saturday) asking for the promised follow-up and was told at 2 PM "You will hear from me today." I think they closed 3.5 hours ago so it's probably not going to happen.

No way would the teams I work on/with pull this shit. We don't need the executives to hold us accountable for commitments we have made, we hold ourselves and teammates accountable! Pride in and ownership of our engineering work.

Looks like they blocked me from their Facebook page after I replied to their request for used cars. I told them I had a mint one they might be interested in and listed some of its special features. I also added my 2 cents to the glowing reviews others posted, mentioning they even included extra parts in the cylinder heads and an unmentioned conversion to a different fuel type for no extra charge.

I figure as long as I only post what I know to be true and can prove it, I am safe talking publicly about this "mint" car.

I am including the commitment to excellence they espouse on their own web site. Are they just words or do they actually mean something?

Nothing super stands out, but it definitely was run hot. I assume the ringlands have been deleted from the genius who ran 87 octane with their blower.

The lowest cylinder may have valve damage, which complicates things. Normally I'd suggest a new shortblock, but a used engine is likely the move here. Unfortunately I see "mint auto sales" as a dead end. They will hide behind the "as is" paperwork and insist that you broke it. It will be cheaper to just get the used engine than getting legal counsel. I hate it though, dealers like that should be forced out of business for this kind of scummy behavior.

Yup, I have been working on multiple plans depending on what happens. Honestly I would be reluctant/scared to buy a used engine after this fiasco. I don't want another lemon and am not confident in avoiding one.

New long blocks, if you can find them, seem to be $7,500 and up. I see reman ones with a 3 or 5 year unlimited mileage warranty for $5,500 at places like https://fraserengineco.com/5-0-liter-ford-coyote-engines/. Never heard of them before but that doesn't mean much. Lots of great places I have never heard of. Or is my long blick worth trying to have rebuilt or is this a risky move?

I think all the accessories and stuff like intake, starter, injectors etc on the engine now are fine to re-use on a new long block.

I may work on this as my winter project, hiring some help for the pulling and reinstalling steps that require two people including one that has done it on a newer Mustang before.

I just can't stay much longer under this stress and negativity because it takes a toll on me. I am only a few years removed from nearly permanently cashing in my chips over some plugged up heart injectors, i mean arteries.
