You trying to start a fight or something? What are you; some kind of trouble maker?
I just read that in a Clint Eastwood voice and it sounded a lot better.

You don't normally read everything in his voice? Makes everyone on this forum sound like a badass.

No, although I might start.

I won't speak to Porsche or Aston Martin, but this is absolutely incorrect with regards to BMW. Manuals are dying in their lineup.
Another video to prove you wrong, from CEO of BMW M themselves. Great quote - that autos are faster but manuals are cooler. Let's leave it there.

No, let's not.

All he said is that they are cooler. He did not say they are expanding or even maintaining the current level of manuals in their lineup. He talks about the M2 CS Racing, a car that comes in automatic only. He also talks about the M2 CSL, which is, wait for it, automatic only.

Yeah because a company that is killing off the manual would get the CEO of the performance division to compliment the manual in their new performance car.

It probably will be killed off in the next 10 years but so will driving as we know it. We'll all be automated

I bought a manual because hot rods and sport cars that are stick shift give the driver the whole body involvement of having something to do with all 4 limbs to make the car go.
To me involvement is what driving a hotrod or a roadster is all about. You can have your faster time. I'm having a better time :like:

He was asked about it. What do you think he would do? I'm sure the head of Chrysler's design division would have complimented the PT Cruiser under similar circumstances, but that wouldn't have made it any less of an eyesore.

The point is if BMW were giving up on manuals, firstly being the CEO of M would not have had a new performance car with a manual and did not have to say anything about the manual let alone compliment it.

Mustang GT Manual 2017 - now sold ☹
last May when I test drove the M2 before buying the Mustang I had to get the salesman to talk me through using the autobox and the paddle shift when in sports mode. I'd never driven an auto til then so all new for me. I did remember not to left foot brake and put us both in the windscreen at the lights. Unlike the time I drove a semi auto A-Class and did left foot brake while operating the stick. That hurt!

I have been a life long fan of the manual transmission, be it on the tree, floor, gas tank, or foot. I have had plenty of both manual and auto's over the years. VERY recently, auto's have become faster than manuals, they no longer hunt for gears and know exactly where to drop to for instant acceleration. My last Mustang was a 2013 GT500 with a 6 speed and it was great, but I went with the auto this time and couldn't be happier. I REALLY like the downshift algorithm in these that downshifts aggressively as the car slows. Automatics never used to do this and it was the game changer and a big reason I went with the automatic. Yes, I can pretty much drive anything I choose ,but this automatic is the way to go for me.
