As far as rush hour in a manual, the '19 makes it sooooo easy! Don't even need to use the gas pedal, just release the clutch to move and it won't die.
Agreed with this, the manuals in these new cars make it very easy to deal with rush hour creep. I play a game to see how little I can shift in the stop and go and it's a surprisingly small amount. I can get that used to be a reason in the old days, but it's pretty simple now.

Nope, butt not hurting in the least. Legit want to here about the race, but whatever man lol. For the record I am in fact in the manual crowd, been my preference for the last 20 years. Hard to judge emotion and/or intent via text, all good.
What's do hear? Line up, I got him. You/others implied if he knew he was in a race. He sure did. Simple as that. If I'm the better driver, so be it. Point being, A10's are far from point and shoot cars. You still need to know what your doing. I raced a supercharged Z06 vette too. Got him as well. Doesn't mean I'm faster. It only means on that day, I was quicker.

My oil separator gives phuk all for Horsepower. He was driving a 18 or 19 GT, and I know the difference between a auto and a stick.. I didn't have to ask, didn't care. Man some of you A10 guys get butt hurt.
nothing like a perforated colon

yeah gotta be at least in track mode and have to have advancetrac off, and need traction obviously. also just leave the shifter in D, especially drag mode. and advancetrac on (even with TC off) will kill power on a lot of shifts in drag mode. gotta do a lot of things to have a good street launch. most people who just drive around in normal mode with TC on will get gapped by slower cars at stoplight races. i also see guys trying to use the paddle shifters thinking that will make them faster. it won't

Agree 100%. I too, in previous cars, have smoked people in cars magazines say are a lot faster. I've also lost races because of botched shifts or sleeping at the light. I've also won and lost "races" that both parties didn't know it was a race. Smoked one car that when we stopped at the next light after, I looked over to see a 9 thousand year old Great Grandma judging the crap out of me. These last 2 sentences are in no way intent to imply you "race" people without their knowledge, just sharing what I think are funny experiences of my own.

My curiosity still stands though. Other than hearing the car shift, how do you know it's an auto you're lined up against? See the paddle shifters through the window? :inspect:

By the sound of the revs the other driver gives his car just before you both go? Under load against the brakes, an AT car ought to sound different from a freely-revved-with-the-clutch-disengaged MT car.

In stick-axle days I think you could tell if the other guys hood came up a little on the driver side as he loaded the engine against the brakes..

Agree with the brake standing. I guess I read @WildHorse post as rolling up on to the person already stopped even though there is nothing specifying either way. So my mind went to wondering how to know the transmission type by just seeing the outside of the car. Not like there are A10 badges or anything. And then of course just wanting to hear the full story of the race, not to judge or offend or criticize, but to enjoy picturing the event. Meh...moved on now lol

I enjoyed my '11 GT500 till I went into a corner fast, then I was outright terrified. Totally the kind of car to go 0-mach 5 then back to 5mph to turn in a 45mph zone. Disclaimer though, I was a way less experienced driver of high performance vehicles in those days. Would be a kick in the pants to test drive a new GT500 I'm sure....but auto transmission...

Cause I was cruising with him for a bit and it shifted like an auto. When we got to the light, I wanted to see how badly I'd get gapped (cause I ran a buck fifteen in the quarter), turned out to be the other way around haha. Should I tell you about my hellcat hunting adventure?

So, why do you suppose Ford only offers a dual clutch automatic in the GT500 if there is so much demand for manual transmissions? That would seem to limit sales.

Hellcats can't hook for shit. Hell, my scatpack could barely get traction on the stock tires.
The '11 GT500 I had was the same way, just a tire burner.

Because everyone is doing it now.

Dunno. I wouldn't want that DCT.. It's like a 100+lbs heavier than a MT82

Yes please!!
He was shooting off his mouth (well the passenger was, drivers rarely do) saying it's only 400 horse blah blah you know how it goes. I was playing dumb squid, yeah my cars not that fast yada yada. Waited for the light, he started foot braking, light turned green, I rode the clutch 3/4 way through first & sent him to gapplebees. Now I earned a bit of a rep on these mean Mexican streets here. We have a SPP shootout (basically no prep) and I'm getting called out left right a center haha. We'll see what happens. I know my car very well, and I swear to the almighty I can get it to 60 better on the street than the track haha.

I remember my first car ('83 Honda Accord Hatchback) was an auto transmission and I think it was a Type POS. 0-60 if you're lucky. Was going as fast as it could on a freeway maybe 80mph, took miles to get there, and came up on a 90's MR2. I never passed them, they hit the gas when our doors met and they were gone. Ended up exploding the transmission. Funny how jumping curbs, reverse donuts in front yards, and mudding really took the years off of it. My dad ALMOST gave me his '90 5.0 for my first car too, looking back, glad he didn't.

When I was younger I was never into Fords.. It was MoPar or no car. When the S550 came out, I was floored. I thought to myself, now that's a proper pony car. 435 hp, IRS rear which I remember Ford did on the 66 GT350 Competition model. Was all set to buy one. Only problem was my favorite Colour, Petty Blue ( or Fords version Grabber Blue ) wasn't an option. My sales guy told me 2 wait and it'll come out. Finally 2 years later boom.. take my money please. I wanted the lightest MT-82 Mustang I could get, so that would've been the 300a. One option: Block heater. So now I put it on a diet, did some mods, and the rest they say is history. Well, until I decide to go a full NA effort, CJ intake blah blah. BTW I had a 76 Honda civic.. I loved that car. -30c, not plugged in, pull the choke, pump the gas 5 times and it'll start every time.
