Both an M1 and a GT are going to feel quite similar, specially being driven around town. If it were me, I would go for the car that might retain its resale value, which in this case would probably be the Mach1 one over a GT. Good luck and happy retirement.

I’ve owned 2 mustang GTs. An 05 and 14. I now own a 20 Bullitt.
I thought it would be “noticeable “, no so, must people just see the Bullitt and M1 as just another mustang. If tracking, M1 all day long. If not, the GT is excellent.

Wow. Looks like a lot of positives for the Mach 1. It definitely stands a part from other Mustangs. Thanks everyone for all the input. It does help.
No Ragrets! (Scotty P's credo) Get it 'cause who knows later you might of wished you did!

Buy the one you want and don't second guess it. There is so little difference between them to the average buyer that, sitting in the car driving, you'd have a hard time knowing which was which.
All the Mustangs are great cars in their own right so it really comes down to what you like.

As a buyer, in this market, you should be able to negotiate a great deal.

Congratulations on your upcoming retirement!

Buy it. I'm 79 and driving a 2017 GT PP with Roush Phase 2 supercharger and lots of other mods. You won't regret it. Here's mine.

Oh yeah, now we’re talkin’!

That’ll show these 65-70 y.o. young whippersnappers what’s what!

I guess it depends on how docile a driver you are, but i will say these 5.0's don't feel great until you rev them out hard. If i were someone who doesn't like to do that I'd be looking at a Camaro instead.

Life is short. Drive the car you want. You will NOT regret the M1.

I daily mine and its a blast. No regrets at all. As others have said, if its a Handling Package car you will want to change the tires. Otherwise its turn key. Enjoy. 👍

As long as you're not getting the handling pack, and you're not stretching your budget to make it work when a GT would fit just fine, then I don't think you'll have any regrets. A "regular" Mach 1 is still highly capable, but also very street friendly.

It is not what I would consider comfortable though as a cruiser.
Where the GT can be more compliant, even on normal settings the M1 is simply a stiffer ride across the board. I can see that wear on some.

Um, until I got Magneride, my wife hated riding in my Mustangs.

I'm renting a Volvo S60 right now. It's really nice. Wife thinks the Mach 1 is more comfortable.

I’m older than you are and say go for it and I guarantee you won’t have any regrets. I did go to the A10 just to get a break from my other manual and still smile every time I drive my Mach 1. It only goes as fast as you want it to and is quite docile the rest of the time like when I’m with my co-pilot who thinks I drive like an idiot. To use a quote from a friend…if not now, when?
I too, use that saying in the real life: "If not now, when?"
I am turning 64 next October and I am about to purchase Mustang #5.
I enjoy them all.

Go for it. Although I own both the M1 is so much more fun to drive. Enjoy your labors and do it.
I’ve been looking at a 23 Mach1 at our local Ford dealer. I will be turning 64 soon and I am going to get a Mustang to enjoy during retirement. We have had Mustangs in the past. They were 09’s. My question after doing research on the Mach 1 is if this is too much car for a guy that probably will never even do a burnout let alone ever get it on a track? I’m thinking just a GT would be plenty. But this particular car is really in good shape.
Am I overthinking this? Any opinions are appreciated.
67-year-old here that sold his automatic 911 GTS for a ‘23 six speed Mach 1. Porsche was faster, Tracked it a few times, but the mach 1 is much more fun.

Sounds better too, IMO.

I suppose like anything subjective it comes down to definitions. But no way would I ever imply the Coyote has to be wound out to be enjoyed. Sure, they really come alive up top but it’s not exactly like you’re driving a Honda S2000 down low either. Mine all feel just fine down low even though they aren’t 500 cube torque monsters.

People depend on opinions here and I’d hate to scare off a prospective new owner.
