Don't post much, but figured I'd share my adventure today.....

I sold my C8 last year for a nice profit and ordered a CT4 V Blackwing. I figured it would be a while before they got a allocation so I picked up this 19 Shelby last August. 19 with 7k miles, clean one owner etc....

My Blackwing was built a couple months, ago, but its been delayed, it might show up next week(I hope not) or next month....

I don't put alot of miles on the Shelby cause I normally drive my beater Camry to work, but this morning I chose to drive the Shelby.....

Doing 55 and a fully grown female deer came out and decided it was time....She was pregnant and her belly blew up on impact and her dead baby was on the side of the road..:(

Personally I hope they total it so insurance can cut a check to my bank and that be the end of it, although I don't know if i see 40k+ of damage....

If not god knows how long it will take to fix this?

Adjuster is coming next Monday, my insurance is Kentucky Farm Bureau so its a pretty reputable local company.

Thoughts on damage?

Sorry to hear that. I live in the mountains in Colorado and the deer are just awful!! Glad you weren’t hurt.

The supply chain issues stuff could actually end up helping you. I believe it’s different state to state but if takes beyond a certain amount of time to repair a car it’s an automatic total.

I remember one of the big Youtubers bought a Ferrari with a salvage title because it was involved in a minor accident and took months to get the parts so it became an automatic total and he got the car for cheap.

I gotta tell you man, I feel bad for your loss, but you really shouldn’t have showed the picture of the dead baby. It ruined my night.

That really sucks for you, the deer to. That being said, I don’t think you’ll be close to the 40k threshold. I’m assuming that’s the insurance companies 80 or 85% number for the total. The sheetmetal damage, although nasty looking is pretty minimal actually. The real key is going to be them putting it on a rack and checking that strut assembly and header panel. If the unibody structure is still straight and square it’ll be simply rehanging new sheetmetal and the associated parts. The good thing for you is if it does get repaired it’s an easy fix for a tech which means it’ll come out as good as from the factory(professionalism assumed). That type of repair was typically easy to beat the book 3 and 4 to 1 when I had a shop. Best of luck.

Good reply Charlie,
I am NOT an adjuster, but the carbon fiber core support is $8000.00, the left front headlight is $1500.00, then we have the hood, fender, door, front fascia, install, paint…. And all of the extra stuff we can’t see without being there in person.
You may be correct, but it seems awfully expensive to me… but I am only guessing!
