It happened every time I drove my Mustang when I had it. Civics, WRXs, Camaros, other Mustangs...it didn't matter what it was, they always thought I wanted to race. Now I have a car with 650 HP, and nobody even looks twice. Just the way I like it!
I think with simple front and rear end treatments, the Karma design could be made to look like a Mustang. The roofline is similar. Lose two doors, add some fake vents in the hood and fenders, and change the front and rear ends, and it could look like a Mustang. I'm not saying it has to look like...
I think it looks great. I just wish instead of going with a more angular look, they had gone with a more organic look. I wish the designers had looked at the Fisker Karma and gone in that direction.
After reading people's reactions all over the internet, it seems that S550 owners are the most critical of the S650. I still say it comes down to not wanting to let go of the S550, but once the S650 hits the streets, S550 owners will be running to their dealer like a crackhead on payday.
I drive a tuned F10 M5. I bought a new 2016 Mustang GT PP Premium 6MT in 2016 and bought a new 2019 Mustang GT PP Premium 6MT in 2020 and decided to sell it to Vroom last year for about $7k more than I paid for it. I'm more than a little intrigued with the new Mustang though. As far as racing...
Usually those who are most vocal against new models are among the first to buy one. Something tells me people will change their minds when they see one in person.
I heard the same things when the S550 came out. I heard the same complaints when the 2018 refresh was unveiled. It's always been this way. It will always be this way. Let it be written. By the way, I think it looks great, except for those flat black inserts under the dark horse headlights...
The video dash is cheaper to manufacture and the fanbois love them. Dummies think they're getting something that is better with the screens. The days of analog gauges in the Mustang are over.
I see a lot of sour grapes here today. It sucks when the thing you cherish is no longer the latest and greatest. Don't worry, Ford will make lots of them!
