I was in a similar situation as OP though not to the same extent of damage. Still looking for a trustworthy shop in the Bay Area to bring the car to.

Went to the body shop today to get a couple things. Took a couple more pictures. I asked the adjuster at the body shop what number he'd put on it if they had a pool going on it and he said 28 to 32k......all from a deer.....
The adjuster is going Monday to start the estimate. I visited my local Ford store and he said good luck getting everything to fix it in under 6 months.

Thoughts on the scenario of the damage is say 30k, not enough to total and insurance wants to fix, but its going to take 6+ months to fix. Do I have any recourse?

for your reference, that was 32k in damagei paid out of pocket in septemeber 2020 and took 4 months…. front rear bumpers, fender, all the bumper parts, door, oil cooler, control arm, side skirts, everything u van think of on left side and no structure damage. Hardest thing to get was the fender insert lolol

I’m seeing so many familiar parts that need replacing, damage and crumple is so similar to mine.
I have listed all new parts required and I can’t get anywhere near your estimate.

It’s hard to tell from the photo’s if that rail is tweaked or not. The inner structure is for sure. I would suggest pushing the diminished value angle. There’s no doubt the car can be repaired to pretty much new condition, without much of an issue. We routinely repaired hits like that where even an experienced buyer could not spot the previous damage. That being said, with Carfax today, a potential buyer would no doubt diminish the value because of the repair. Best of luck.

Don't post much, but figured I'd share my adventure today.....

I sold my C8 last year for a nice profit and ordered a CT4 V Blackwing. I figured it would be a while before they got a allocation so I picked up this 19 Shelby last August. 19 with 7k miles, clean one owner etc....

My Blackwing was built a couple months, ago, but its been delayed, it might show up next week(I hope not) or next month....

I don't put alot of miles on the Shelby cause I normally drive my beater Camry to work, but this morning I chose to drive the Shelby.....

Doing 60 and a fully grown female deer came out and decided it was time....She was pregnant and her belly blew up on impact and her dead baby was on the side of the road..:(

Personally I hope they total it so insurance can cut a check to my bank and that be the end of it, although I don't know if i see 40k+ of damage....

If not god knows how long it will take to fix this?

Adjuster is coming next Monday, my insurance is Kentucky Farm Bureau so its a pretty reputable local company.

Thoughts on damage?

Maybe you should consider finding a new, non-sicko, “friend”.

Can you claim diminished value from your own insurance company? I thought you can't go after your own insurance company for it, only if it was somebody else's and it was that person's fault.

I get that it was an animal that caused it, still didn't think you could claim that.

You can. Just need to look at your policy. My policies have it.

My insurance company said I can't since I was technically at fault.

That's where it is grey IMO. I don't believe hitting a deer is considered an at fault accident since it was an animal that crossed the road.

I would push the issue for sure.

I've hit two deer over the years (my daily driver, not the R), most recently this past October, they are not at fault, at least in my insurance companies eyes. No mark on your record and diminished value will kick in if you ask, the key is ask, they will not bring that to the forefront if not questioned.

Most places if not all don’t allow you to claim diminished on own car only if someone else is at fault

Atleast this was my understanding

Now having other quotes for comparable for payout is fair but i May and probably am wrong
