It's a Dax Rush MC - Some random images of the style of build I am doing from the net :

It's a (very) long term project, mines still part built and I really need to pull my finger out ... :bandit:

Cars like that are great fun, they are a completely different experience to driving a tin top, especially one as large as the mustang !

The girls had pretty mudder on Saturday morning but once we were home, I got some time to mess with the Mustang :like:

Got the left side upper and lower rear fender PPF applied, the trickiest piece :

Finished :

There are a few small bubbles :

E382-F350-C730-42-CC-A225-1-EDEC964402-A.jpg

These being the worst :

87-BE3-BC6-E54-C-4-A04-BA5-E-90-F74153-FECA.jpg

But as the small bubbles in the pieces I fitted last week are completely gone, I’m hopeful these will go too :like:

I also got the right side drivers door done, this was the easiest piece I’ve fitted to date :

Right side now finished :

I ran out of slip solution at that point so the other door will have to wait for another day.

I will have some PPF trimming to do on the other side, to make it fit correctly around the factory supplied paint flaw on the door bottom …

Here’s how the PPF fits the front of the door :

FD811898-1-C60-40-B6-A7-A7-A8-D7-DABE1-AFC.jpg

And here’s the paint flaw on the other door that I will need to provide clearance for :

No Mustang time today, we have a christening (my other half’s a god parent) so my only car related job will be washing her car so it looks presentable on the church car park … lol

Just to finish the topic of PPF, the odd little bubbles that were under the film after installation have now completely vanished :like:

Got a nice little patriotic bag to keep the sun of my knob (no clear over the paint fill I did) and to keep the end polished up ready for use …

Today was a nice therapy day … lol. Oldest out with her uncle (some ‘Friends’ experience at Blackpool), youngest out with my other half for some one on one mum and daughter time (Tescos vouchers for Sea Life Blackpool) = time for some winter detailing :like:

Snow foam - trying some new Autoglym stuff as I suspect the Bilt Hamber (although very good at cleaning) was stripping wax a little quicker than I would have liked :

A2-AE2-F19-A9-CE-4-CB9-B4-B3-54258-F40-AB43.jpg

This stuff is really tenacious and hangs around for ages, very slippy with my crocs on … lol

CAEA9-B39-3-D45-410-F-BD51-C9-D3-B1-BCF619.jpg

Two bucket wash, clay mitt and then I polished and waxed all the upwards facing surfaces + headlights + mirror caps.

Turtle wax hybrid ceramic (polish & wax) on the green stuff and the same but the black version on the roof, mirrors and vents.

I masked the roof and any trim :

As the black version has dyes in it that stain :

4854514-D-CD96-49-CE-B4-EC-22-A0-A40882-EC.jpg

Smooth as silk and very glossy - I was loosing the light when I finished so the iPhone bleaches the colour out, but you get the idea :

Then took it for a drive to polish up the disks :sunglasses:

Well my three girls are isolating so as we weren’t going out with family today, I started a job that I kept putting off.

Under arch wash down and the rust preventative :

This is the stuff I used :

AA1-BC1-E3-51-D5-4-E70-8-C20-995-F7-E509395.jpg

After washing / wiping down I used white spirit to get rid of the (Ford applied and still dripping) cavity wax and cavity wax overspray, there was a lot of it …

I then soaked it in Lanoguard and worked it in all the brackets and joints etc with the brush. I finished with the microfibre which is now saturated with the stuff.

Lanoguard (similar to fluid film for anyone stateside reading this) is made from lanolin and no joke, my car (and driveway) now smell like sheep / an old farmers Land Rover … :giggle:

I also cleaned the arch liner up (more cavity wax overspray) and then did the wheel - yet more cavity wax overspray :

91125-BF7-0-AE4-405-C-8832-70570-E4-CC69-D.jpg

Finished the backs with black turtle wax ceramic :

9-D504883-DCE3-4-B68-ABD1-C16-AF277-FF47.jpg

I’m not relishing the thought of doing the other corners, but I will get around to them sometime

I will finish with the underfloor, hopefully on the lift at my mates garage :like:

hope your girls get better soon and the ten days flies by without any issues. I got my car undersealed by third party as i'd not heard anything good about Fords job! Mind you, i need to get the car booked in for an inspection of said underseal though it's not like i've done many miles in the past 2yrs since i had it done!

Nice work . Ceramic on the wheels inside, nice idea, should let the brake dust just hose off 😄👍🏻
Hope the Covid thing goes OK.
cheers John

Thanks both :like:

All three are OK. Youngest got a very mild temp for one night (enough for dad not to notice / think it was nothing). Oldest got zero. My misses has had a couple of days of a bad cold, but has lost her taste of certain foods. If they all stay like that and no one gets worse, I think that’s a win. I’m still testing negative (including PCR on Friday after track and trace caught up with me). Not quite sure how that’s happened as I’ve been living with the first PCR positive for a week now, we’re a close touchy family and we didn’t change any habits - I’m not telling a six year old she can’t hug and kiss dad or share film night snacks with me etc :like: It will be interesting to see if I get through it without picking it up …

Back to under seal. I actually think Ford did a good job with the yellow cavity wax stuff, they seem to have got that everywhere and used lots of it - it’s still dripping over a year later … ? !

That black stuff is another story though, they seem to have sprayed that everywhere other than where it’s really needed. It’s been time consuming to clean it off the upper body, exhaust tips and wheels etc you know, the places that really needed it

The only thing I have found that shifts it quickly and reasonably easily is thinners.

House jobs today, the only thing I got done car wise was to paint the pony from the front wheel I had off yesterday :

(Yesterday) Other side done, might as well make the most of my last weekend of isolation …

Less cavity wax leaks and overspray on this side :

Much colder this weekend though (just above freezing), so I had to work with the heat gun to keep it spreading evenly :

Washed it today then cleaned / dried the door seals / door shuts, just in time for the snow … lol

Not a huge amount to report, but I did finally upgrade my engine from 2020 to 2021 / 2022 spec … :giggle:

AEFD4-BB8-FFD4-4-A3-C-ABB4-D33260-F1-C20-D.jpg

Although I did decide against updating the engine cover - if I’m keeping the starship enterprise under the hood I would rather have the two tone 2020 version rather than the single colour all black version of the later models … :bandit:

Part number if anyone is interested :

I did notice that the yellow paint that Ford use on the o rings had started to come off and contaminate the oil chimney :

1240207-E-E56-E-4-C62-82-BE-1-BF7-BC26-F8-AA.jpg

I can’t find any reason why Ford use that paint (there’s also green on the dipstick seal) so I cleaned up the oil chimney and removed the paint from the filler cap o rings :

Regardless of if it is old / heat cycled / hard / brittle or if it’s new / soft, it rubs off easily with a damp microfibre.

Washed it, took it for more V-Power. It’s averaging 13.44 MPG from new (11.19 US MPG) :surprised:

When I bought this car I (briefly) considered twister orange as my other silly colour choice - I think my car knows and keeps flirting with orange exotics when it’s time to fill up. From a few moths ago :

From Sunday :

The guys in the Audi were very complimentary of the stang, both said they wondered what had driven in behind them and both said the stang was louder and sounded better !!!

After hearing a neighbour’s Lambo I was actually just a bit disappointed with the V10 Audi - those Germans have sanitised the exhaust note just a little to much, they really should have let it sing … :frown:

13mpg !

I use mine as a daily and have got 28mpg over 11,000 miles or so.
Mine are ‘fun’ miles, not ‘daily’ miles …

Daily miles go on the Sportage :like:

thats a lot of numbers for a small part - did a quick google then gave up.
The ‘1934171’ reference is the part number on my invoice (Shown as (F1934171’).

The F2GZ6766A number will get you loads of hits online.

It cost me £4.88

Hope that helps :like:
