Gen 2 Voodoo block for Coyote build

The gen3 block has support right where some gen2 blocks failed.

And I personally don’t see the coating as being a problem unless you want more displacement.

I’d tend to agree on the support location in the new blocks. As for the liner/coating, I think the jury is still out? Stock Gen 3s are making big power though.

So it looks like Ford first added the supports in the sportmans block and then the Gen 1 voodoo

The Sportman‘s of course is no longer available but was sold as M-6010-50R and the description is the exact same verbiage they use for the Voodoo blocks .
it was the best thing since sliced bread when it came out but I heard some still cracked

Why is that? Only way to support a Gen 3 is with sleeves I assume.

Because the coating flakes off and it is super hard so it scratches the cylinders causes blow by
Gen 3 has more cylinder support so no worries there. Gen3 is the strongest 5.0 block

If you ever see a cylinder under extreme pressure, rpm, temperature it doesn’t stay round it flexes a lot. The gen3 coating is extremely hard but doesn’t flex well so starts to crank and flake. Now this is not every time or every cylinder but it is a known issue

Just goes to show the difference in price on same parts . OEM branded parts seem to be always cheaper than same parts sold by Ford performance .

I have a buddy who works at a dealership who just picked up 2 @$1600 each .

He said there were 3 available. May he can still get one

Also heads up ... I heard Ford is getting ready to jack up prices .
They Increased the price on the Boss crank I hear to almost $500.

you can still get the Gen 3 cranks(same as Boss just balanced different) for $300 but they are also going to go up next .
Another forum member noted Gen 3 SB ‘s had increased in price but auto nation Ford still has them for $1900 plus core .
I suspect prices are going to go up across board including the Gen 3 bare block which can still be had now for $800.

Just said F it and bought Hyde’s last Predator block in stock.
He verified the upcoming price increases and also lots of older parts getting cancelled.

Not sleeving... was right around $1800. They’re local so I can pick up. But they have great deals on shipping if needed.
