If I were you I would order from that second dealer that said in stock, just to be safe. A few hours is a general guideline. Once it took almost 24 hours for them to cancel on me.

I did get cancelled and I did order 2 from the local dealer. I'll see about going by tomorrow to pick up - I'll call first of course.

Had 2 ordered on Fordparts.com and they cancelled due to back order...found one lonely, elusive, filter at a dealer yesterday 35 miles away who seldom sees a Gt 350 or 500.

For those of you in the warmer areas, try searching at dealerships in the northern states where the GT350s/GT500s are sleeping for a few more months. Those dealers will be less apt to hold onto their filters for oil changes and more willing to sell their stock.... at least until we get closer to the cars coming out of hibernation.

I ordered from several dealers who listed them in stock, only to have them cancel shortly thereafter. I do not think the online inventory is typically accurate, or dealers decide to hold them for service customers. One dealer billed my credit card just to say it is on National Backorder, so I requested they cancel / credit me. I do not appreciate being billed until a shipment materializes.

I would certainly follow-up any on-line search with a phone call to the dealer's parts counter and verify that they have it and that they will ship it to you. I bought one the other day locally after finding it on the fordparts.com site, but it was within 15 miles or so and I just went there and asked if they had it on the shelf. Not sure how many they really had, but they were well aware of the national back order and would only admit that they had one to sell me.

Typically it's just an authorization that falls off after a couple days if they haven't shipped the product. Once they ship it finalizes as a charge. Itll put the funds back available after a couple days if it doesnt ship right away. It protects them from drop ordering or shipping to someone who can't pay.

Nope. Billed to my AMEX day of order (not pending) 1/26. Received notice yesterday on National Backorder. I requested this vendor cancel / credit.

Been there, done that. Even utilizing the Ford system to locate parts there is no luck. Dealerships showing stock are now stocking aftermarket "comparable" filters and in the system they are listing them as FL2087.
One place showed 12 in stock. I ordered a bunch and called to confirm after order went through. They admitted they only had aftermarket but listed them as 2087 so that their service system would work.

Sounds like a potential legal issue there.

Honestly, someone needs to step up and take one for the team and have an attorney issue notice (on letterhead). Ford isn't going to change guidance until that happens. Why would they? Would you if you ran a business? We don't know what sort of licensing or exclusivity is in place with motorcraft or the supplier. I'm sure Ford is content to let everyone stew right up until the point that it's going to potentially cost them some money (and hope the market just resolves the issue with supply relief).

Hell, even if it's not as conspiracist as that, it could be that Ford is a giant company and the person who could make the call on issuing revised guidance has a zillion things on their plate and just doesn't GAF about this lowly filter issue for 500s/350's. Any legal action toward FOMOCO would end up on their counsel's desk who might be able to raise the issue to "do something" instead of it sitting at the bottom of the "someday" pile.

Same here. Received an email telling me they are on national backorder with no eta. If they are not available the website should reflect that.
