Here is what I found. MY2018 and below the FL2062 is specified in the GT350 owners supplement.

2019 and 2020 both specify the 2087 filter.

Both charts for each respective model year have a note at the bottom stating that use of any other filter as specified could lead to engine damage.
This is what confused me at the beginning when I did my first oil change. MY2018 specifies 2062. I went with 2087 because it is the updated part. But would Ford actually update the MY2018 manual with the new part number (the last revision I could find was May 2018 so before MY2019)? Should we pre-2019 guys not be using the 2087?

Do Ford dealerships still use the 2062 on pre-2019 cars?

Dealership said that Ford updated their database to say FL2087 is required for 2018 as well. I was unable to get them to install 2062 due to the update.

Okay that makes sense. Thanks!

My only point with that is that if you can't find a 2087 anywhere, I would use a 2062 until I could get a 2087. If the engine ever let go, then I would point to the manual. You would get a new engine.

Yea, but what if you had a 2062 laying around from a previous purchase? I think if you no kidding need an oil change, I would use the 2062. Anyone who has a 18 or older certainly has old receipts laying around for the purchase. In addition, the 2062 was the oil filter I used to use in my Rs that I tracked at Daytona. Never had a problem under that kind of use.

I use the 2062. Also almost 100% track my car. I have plenty high oil pressures. In fact so high, I uninstalled and reinstalled everything because I thought something was wrong.

The 2062 and 2062-A will work just fine for 99.9% of owners.

That said, I am still looking for 2087's myself haha

You have a manual that says to use an FL2062. Anyone in this boat can play stupid if the warranty is a concern.

Are owners NOT changing their oil because of this?

Old/dirty oil and filter is a bigger problem than an superceded filter design. I will be using the 2062a in a few weeks rather than keep an old oil filter in the engine.

I called and complained to Ford Customer Service yesterday. 1-800-392-3673. That's what my dealer told me to do. I urge any of you with some free time and who care enough to call and file a complaint. They should give you a case #.

I even had a rep call me back last night and she told me that Ford meets on this topic twice a week. Which is an absolute joke. Something about an internal component shortage. I wonder if it's the metal cage? I wasn't able to write anything down so I emailed the rep they have on my case for the exact response from Ford. I will share it when she gets back to me.

Fords between a rock and a hard place here. This is no different than any other parts shortage.
There is an automatic transmission repair shop here in town who has so many vehicles backed up due to parts shortages, they have to rent dirt lots just to store the vehicles. Car dealerships and auto repair shops are having the same problems.
Sorry but I’m not waiting if I need an oil change, I’m using an aftermarket or the 2062.

That's my thinking as well. It sucks our warranties could potentially be denied should an engine failure happen but I want to drive my damn car lol.

They're not between a rock and hard place until someone threatens legal action. As long as product owners just keep taking it, they'll just keep stalling, hoping the market corrects the problem.

Right. This is just about the dealership and if they’d install the original 2062, which mine won’t since their database is updated to state only to install FL2087.

So I originally brought my GT350 to my local dealer (Kings Ford) back in October to get an oil change but they didn't have the filter in stock. I complained because I explained to my service advisor that I left them a few messages to get back to me regarding the shortage because I wanted to make sure they had the filter before I wasted my time. They never got back to me so I didn't find out until I brought the car in.

Well yesterday I brought the car back and got my oil changed because I was sick of waiting. They put in the K&N filter and the Amsoil that I supplied. I actually asked my service advisor if the filter would void the warranty and he said no. This is also the same service advisor that advised me back in October not to use an aftermarket filter. That was before he realized the extent of the backorder.
