Downgrading Mustang GT?

I fought in Korea, and it chaps my ass that 'Mericans will pump 7 billion dollars of profits a year into a country that tried to kill me when they buy kia's and hyrundai's.

Hyundai/Kia is South Korean. I'm pretty sure it was the North Koreans (and Chinese) that were trying to kill you. Unless you were fighting with the Chinese?

Or else they wouldn't have asked for help and you wouldn't have been sent to fight there. (You and the soldiers of 15 other countries.)

It was mostly the Chinese. The North Korean army was mopped up in the first 6 months.

When the USAF tells people why the 21st century "Chair Force" expects them to know how to shoot, they talk about the Korean War, and all the Airmen found dead with their safety on or magazine in wrong. When people ask how we ended up with the M16, they explain how all how an M1 carbine took several hits to stop a screaming Chinaman, and we needed a replacement the same size with more firepower.

The North Koreans are barely a footnote in any of those lessons.

I'd suggest the DSG over the M6.

Or, if you really want to get your ducks in a row, join the military, pay off your Stang with your enlistment bonus, and get in killer shape, skills training, money for college, and preferential hiring. You also get to serve our great nation and protect me. You'll still be 28 when you're done.

That is what my older son did and it worked out incredibly well for him. After 10 years in the Marines, he has top secret clearance and works for a consulting firm that does government contracts and makes $xxx plus bonuses. One of his cars is a new GT500.

It's so boring though I'd rather have the crappy manual, haha. The DSG is a great transmission other than the lag on takeoff of the clutches grabbing, but IMO the GTI is far more fun with the row your own option. Getting the auto makes it feel like too much of an appliance. I had one, so this is just my takeaway from the experience. Now the Golf R on the other hand? That pairs better with the DSG.

Agreed . If you want fun it has to be stick with the 7.5 gti. In cornflower blue. Rabbit edition. I was dumb to let that one go.

With a good DSG tune (I have EQT), it is a blast in sport mode and using the paddles. I would love to drive a manual GTI, maybe my opinion would change. I bought the DSG because my Mustang has the MT82 and for a DD, I wanted the DSG.

Car is a car. Keep GT, eat out less, cut cell bill etc. You want to keep it you'll budget/find a way.

So right now I have a 2020 mustang GT with mbrp race exhaust, tinted windows, changed all wheels and some other minor things. This car is great and I love it but I am 24 and will probably not have a roommate for my next lease, so I will have to get an apartment without a roommate so I will be spending more money. I was wondering if I were to downgrade from a mustang GT what are some car options I could look at that still can be fun and have aftermarket options and is below the price of $26,500 (ish). I can keep my mustang GT but will probably be strained for money but I also ask you guys if I should keep it or go with a more affordable car. I have already looked at refinancing options as well and none were worth it.

A car that pops into my mind is a used 2016 Hyundai genesis coupe 3.8

Get yourself a reliable toyota or zippy honda while you get financially situated.

After a few years of focusing on that, you will be able to afford whatever fun car you want whether it is another mustang, corvette, GTR, Audi ect.

Your future self, and probably your future spouse, will thank you for this decision to first sort out finances, then get to enjoy the toys.

I was in the same boat while going to school in my early 20s. Money was tight so I got rid of my 07 Mustang GT and got myself a cheap new Ford Focus. It was a great decision, I was able to save up get more financially secure before buying my 2014 Mustang GT. Car should not make or break your account, should be no more than 15% of your income I would say.

Sure I hated driving a slow as Focus but good things always take time. lol

Heck I sold my 2014 Mustang GT in 2020 and bought a beater Honda to drive while my Mach 1 was built. Waited almost 2 years for the Mach 1!

How much work can you/are you willing to do? If you can do the work yourself 2005/06 Mini S 6 speed's are a sweet spot $ and potential reliability-wise;if you go through/replace the major systems. You can pick one up with 100k miles for approx $4-6k, spend another 3-4 for maint and mods and you will have fun car that works as a DD, gets 28-30 mpg, is a twisty monster, and is likely good for another 100k miles. The M/M $ includes brakes rebuild and mod, upper engine rebuild and mod, full suspension rebuild and mod, cat back exhaust, various cosmetic mods, etc. If you can find one with a fresh clutch all the better. Besides my 2019 GT/CS I have 2. One hatch(owned 7 yrs)and one vert(owned 3 years). I'll eventually get rid of the hatch, but for the next year or two its my DD.
