I realize if you're out hunting you didn't bring along a roll of Charmin, but geez at least you could use some leaves, as long as it's not sumac or ivy.
HA, one would think so shogun but I’m talking everyday, not just hunting emergencies. My own parent‘s end of the family was actually comparatively sophisticated compared to some of their country kin. In many cases when we would visit there would simply be a bushel basket of corncobs within reach once inside the [outdoor] facility. I think it’s why I still walk funny today.

I mean, we know it's possible. From knowing the details of the tune parameters available and from first hand experience of many owners getting great results from tunes (myself included).

I was more saying about this coming direct from Ford, you'd think with all their money in R&D they could do that.
Watch them buy a Cobb tune for $150 and reverse engineer it and claim they "fixed" the programming 😉

I don't know if the Cobb is any good or not, but why not steal from the master, GM? Some claim the 7G A10 is a big step from 6G. I didn't think so but it was a short ride. Maybe Ford finally capitulated to the fact they suck.

Funny thing, ALL of that can be changed in the tune. I have switched over to tuning my own car and have spent literally MONTHS trying to refine the trans tune. You have no idea how many tables and values there are for every inch of a shift. The TCC settings alone are in the thousands of values. I would pay REAL MONEY to a tuner that could refine the trans out for any driving scenario not just WOT. Look, this is from the tune.

This is one tab of one sub category in the trans only. #goodluck

And @young at heart heres the table for what you're talking about... Try to figure that shit out.

Yep you are correct. I had a tuner who tunes Aus. 4x4's for a living have a play with mine and a friends 18 and 19 GT 10 speeds and with quite a bit of of back and forth with revisions made our autos very nice. The problem, as you say is very complex and to make matters worse Ford would release new parameters in their tables on a regular basis. Mid production year etc. This made it very hard for him to make one tune suitable for all iterations of the S550 let alone for each customers likes and dislikes.
He has since given up Mustangs and gone back to the 4x4's which are apparently easier to improve.

Just wondering if anyone has a super smooth a10? Mine is pretty smooth in S but still doesn’t feel super smooth. Has some aggressive shifts that are not like silk for sure.
I understand the potential fixes including trans fluid, resets etc but mine does not seem as bad as others.

Just wondering if anyone has a super smooth A10 or is the nature of the beast simply not smooth even at its best?
Mine is a lot smoother since getting a tune done on the car.

My 19 PP1 punches fast and hard, which I totally love from a performance car. But wanting Silky smooth shifting from a performance car? I hope you find what your looking for.
Not looking for silky smooth just making sure mine is normal lol I’m used to manual corvettes.
Glad to hear that everyone has the same experience!!
I wonder if a trans tune makes the car slower ? I mean the trans is a big part of those amazing quarter mile times we all read about and I’m sure the 2018s were not smooth lolo

Mine is too smooth in Drive. Shifts firmly in S, too firm sometimes especially when its cold. When its nice and warm it smooths up a little.

10R80 here too. When the trans is cold <130 degrees the sifts can be clunky, they aren't always but I can definitely feel them shift. I never put it in sport mode below 130 degrees. Once the trans is warmed up the shifts are smooth as butter in D. In Sport mode they are firm but not clunky. They are lightning quick and tbh I like that!

The shift strategy in the GT that I drove felt better than its 6G counterpart. Felt a little more performance oriented vs mpg oriented. And that was in Normal mode. My 10R is smooth, I just don’t care for the shift strategy.

One of the biggest complaints I had with this transmission when it was brand new, was within the first 5 to 10 minutes of driving and in normal mode, it felt like I got rear ended when slowing down. Every time I looked up at the display screen when this happened, it said Gear 3.

As I put on more mileage, this condition has improved and lessened. Now, I just feel a slight bump/jerk when it happens, and it will only happen within the first 5 to 10 minutes of driving, if it does occur at all. Sometimes, I do not even notice it.

The other problem I had was in normal mode and in gears 8 - 10. If I stepped on the gas, it felt sluggish and like it was bogging. Thanks to a tip on here, I am able to avoid this now by quickly using the paddle shifters, and shifting down 2 gears when I need to accelerate.

my great grandma had an old Sears catalog in the outhouse, lol. Do a little shopping and tear off a page when you are done.

And #2, the camaro is worlds and I mean worlds better in terms of trans tuning from the factory. The hardware might be similar or the same, but the way its managed is completely different. I owned two 10L90 camaro ZL1's and they are like caddys compared to the mustang 10R80. When I first went to get a new mustang, I thought the first 10R80 car I drove was broken. Then drove another and it felt the same...lol
I second this. My ZL1 A10 trans is light years ahead of my (former) 2018 GT A10. Not even in the same league in terms of smoothness and overall tuning.
