So far, I’m impressed with the A10 in my 2023 GT. I will echo though that it acts a little wonky until the trans fluid warms up, and that in itself seems to take extra long. But it’s pretty good once you let the trans warm up. And if I’m driving aggressively or around town and don’t want the trans to shift immediately to 10th gear, I keep it in Sport+ mode where it behaves much more akin to a performance automatic transmission. Probably because it rarely has to jump down 3+ gears when called upon to GO. I like normal mode but only while the car is warming up or if I want a smooth ride, or on extended highway rides.

I don't know if a super smooth A10 exists, but like mentioned earlier, if you want it to shift night and day better, then contact Wengerd and get a tune. There is only so much a tuner can do, but I am very happy with the way mine shifts now compared to before.

When mine was bone stock the shifting was actually pretty decent.

Besides it wanting to upshift into 9th and 10th way too fast in D mode and being little jerky sometimes on the downshifts when coming to a stop.

Then once I got it tuned by Wengerd the shifts are on point especially the down shifts in track mode.

Drag mode the shifts are firm and crisp especially when going WOT and using the roll race tune.

Does anyone else’s in D mode hit 9th and 10th earlier then you’d like?

Absolutely. It’s insane at how low of speeds it will get to 10th in D. But when I’m in sport+, it’s way better and usually doesn’t get past 8th gear at speeds under 45 mph unless I’m driving very passively.

So Wengard didn’t fix the shifting quickly into 10th in D?

When it's cold (upon startup) and in normal mode, during the first attempt to shift from 1st to 3rd it acts like it goes into neutral for a second before upshifting harshly
the solenoids are 'stuck' when cold? I don't know why GM's version doesn't do it. I beat on a rental Camaro SS in the middle of winter and it was perfect every time. Better valve body/timing to compensate for temp? The trans behavior improved in my '20 F150 (3.5TT) after Unleashed Tuning flashed it. I won't own another Ford equipped with A10 - truck since sold. I don't believe in rewarding failure/incompetence. Once is enough to shame on me.

and sometimes it shifted a little rough but for Pete's sake these are performance vehicles guys..
no, it's a FORD which they can't program worth a damn. It is inexcusable. GM has no such problems. Ford needs to start hiring people who actually know how to do their job!

Maybe?

It acts like it's low on fluid almost, but stuck solenoids might be it. Once it has shifted up once from first gear, the issue doesn't recur until the truck sits for a period and cools fully. If GM's acts like a transmission should, it's all on Ford.

While I like the truck (again, a '19) for the most part, it's also kind of been a revelation that Ford has lost the plot somewhat, and it cost them a Bronco sale. Warped dash from Day 1, check. Wonky transmission, check. Crap paint, check. In the shop three times within the first 20K miles, check. The trans thing concerns me the most at the moment though, since it's out of powertrain warranty this summer. I'd like to keep it indefinitely since it's been long paid for, low mile, and the RCSB availability is on borrowed time, but at this point I'm not sure if I'll regret it....

Thats how mine is also. Much better in S or Sport+

It’s much better now than it was on the stock tune.
On the stock tune it was hitting 10th around 38-40mph.
Now it’s around 50+ which is significantly better.

Yes, way too early. As I stated in my earlier post, use the paddle shifters when this happens, and shift the gearing down 2 or 3. This will allow you to accelerate faster:)

I’m tuned with Livernois and for the most part happy. D is fine for the first 3 min then it’s to S. just always wants to get to 10 too fast in D.

What about the pump whining? My dealer said "they all do that" I said then why dont you fix them all starting with mine. Oh, no response to my question "why did it not happen when new"? Last Ford I will ever buy. Hope the 8 speed in my C8 works better.

guy on Hellcat forum posted about his C8. 7 transmissions and 1 engine replaced in <2yr of ownership. And none of them show up in CarFax. Total miles about 8000. It's at some dealer in Tampa area - garnet red. Avoid!

Yeah use the paddles when you want to get out of 10th otherwise the car will lug and get that horrible tq converter shudder. It gets worse with age.

I have my trans pretty well sorted. I've been working on its tuning for months. Lots of playing with all of the TCC and shift points. Its been a journey but honestly its still not as good as my camaro was out of the box.
