Very smooth. In sport mode if I launch hard it chirps rubber in first 3 gears .only have 7000 miles on it
Followed all the break in rules ford provided fir 1st 500 miles .wonder if that helps.i didn't like the camaro
I'm 6 4 and just couldn't get comfy and see out the rear window. Thought it was dangerous for me anyway

You'll hate your mustang after. If I could at this point, I'd sell my whipple GT and get another ZL1. What a great car.
Nah, I love my ecoboost.
I drove a 69 mustang before mustangs were cool :)
I call chevys tick ticks, they had a commercial years ago saying the heart beat of America. I joked “ why is my Camaro ticking “ “ oh that’s not a tick it’s the heart beat”

If you haven't check out this tsb : https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2023/MC-10234596-0002.pdf . It helped out a bunch with my rough shifts on my stock tune. Can't say if it will help with a custom tune though, but I do think they are based on whatever shifting strategy you have installed currently.

I think hitting it with a kam reset on a tuning device forces its relearning process and can result in smoother shifts. You have to drive consistently for it to shift smoothly and if you just randomly get on the gas I don't think the a10 is smart enough to accommodate it. I don't know if it is able to learn for different modes either, like having shifter in (s) for example and exclusively driving it aggressively in that mode.
It's interesting that this TSB doesn't apply to Mustangs past the 2021 production year. Mine is a 2023, and it seems to me that my 10R80 does shift less abruptly in Normal mode and snapper in the performance modes. I wonder if they sorted it out?

My 19 GT shifts smooth in normal and firmer in Sport. My 18 F150 shifts smooth and fine. My friends F150 shifts the same way, smooth.

I have been paying more attention to my shifting after reading this and my 2021 ecoboost is exactly what I would expect. Normal automatic shifts but firm.
So wonder if they aren’t all the same?

I think my '18 GT shifts ok... Not even in the same realm as my Jaguar XK in smoothness, but fine for me. I normally drive in Track mode with all the traction controls off and know how to modulate the throttle to get the response I want.

On my GT the trans is smooth in Drive but it does upshift sooner and gentler than in S mode. In S mode, it holds each gear longer and upshifts at a higher rpm. Yes, in S it does shift harsher, which is by design I'm sure; when I go WOT from a dead stop it will chirp the tires on the 1-2 upshift whereas in normal Drive it won't. I think the programming in D is focused on optimum fuel economy so it upshifts sooner than in S. All the upshifts are smooth though so not sure what "super smooth" is supposed to mean.

I was paying closer attention based on this thread and I think it is mainly clunky on startup so it could just be cold. It seems to smooth out. It does upshift much too soon in D, but I daily it so I don't like leaving it in sport just to toodle up to the grocery store.

I need to get them to do the TSB...mine isn't terrible but I think it would probably improve it on normal. Ford needs to address this problem (including all of the pending class action cases) by doing a refresh of all S550 10 speeds with the S650 programming which apparently is much better. I don't care if it is expensive for Ford...they @#$%ed it up...if that is mechanically and technically feasible and would fix it, that is what needs to be done.

It's got 10 gears it needs to choose from, I'm happy it doesn't act like a frantic 5 year old on a sugar high.

My 18 f-150 (3.5TT) is clunky and jerky, always has been for 40k miles, but it works....knock on wood.
22 Bronco is fine, smooth for a Ford fine.
23 mustang not so much, it was super harsh when I bought it with 39 miles on it. I was already told it qualifies for TSB 22-2428. But....with forscan, I cleared the tables and disabled adaptive learning. It's more along the lines of smooth for a Ford now.

Can't see out of it Crapmaro A10 that shifts nice vs my Mach 1 that shifts a little nutty sometimes. Mustang ftw , all day!
It’s not like that. I’m 6’ and had no issues seeing out of the three 6th gen Camaros I had. In 2019 they added the rear view camera. And that completely cleared the rear view problem. Front is fine unless you’re a dwarf or a Sasquatch. Anyone between 5’5 and 6’3 should be totally fine. That outward visibility myth was so overblown by the reviewer mags.
