My 04 Kia Optima. Nothing special but it got me around. I just put a new ac compressor in it too. I’m thinking the bolt holding the cam gear on walked out.

Much appreciated, but I’ve been sober for 13 years. With this one I can probably just have a few valves replaced and I can get a head gasket set for $80 from rock auto. It’s just a total inconvenience

Its likely the snout had some fractures present and that the support was holding it together. Once removed, she done came apart. It would be ideal to know if support was on from day one? Ive seen a few engines pulled apart for various reasons with fractures in the snout, but still together. Just a matter of time in those cases.

It was actually not installed since day one, bought it & installed it after about 4000 miles on the system. But this next time around it’ll be on from day one on the new motor & won’t be getting removed at all. Lol

Seems like there’s a lot of long blocks being bought lately. Also I just noticed that tasca wants 7k for a gen3 long block now. Could have have sworn they were like 5 ish a couple of months ago

You are correct. The place I got my longblock from raised their price from ~$4300 to ~$7500. When I ordered mine they said there were only 32 left in warehouses. I assume the price is matching the availability.

Yeah that’s crazy! I got mine for around 4300. Definitely a supply and demand thing. Just glad I got mine when I did
