I assumed you were asking your question while controlling for hours on the motor in additional to all the other customary variables like mileage, paint, etc. In other words, the only difference between the 2 cars is some stupid serial numbers don't match and we furthermore assume the quality of the engine build is the same. Then it's up to whichever has a lower price regardless of why.

If the price is the same, then I'll take the car with the more recent build date every time. Since we know (or suspect) pre-19 motors seem to have more failures than the latter.

It is a very slow process...It took me from start to finishing (opening a case #, 3 months until it was done, done).

That is true. I'd like to at least have slight hope in Ford hustling this along due to the severity of the failure in such a short time. But in the end it's wishful thinking...

Either way I'm vested in seeing how this plays out for Montoya to finish his road trip. Quality stuff!

Update- Top end disassembly requested by Ford to determine failure. Expected completion on Tuesday of next week. I’m still holding out hope it’s just a bent valve, no block damage. Maybe I’ll be the first to have a repaired on site motor? Doubtful, but never say never.

As a classic mustang owner for it’s future most care about its non collision or rust damaged unibody than if it’s original engine/ transmission was correctly replaced by another original era part! Even if a replacement quarter was done right it’s hardened steel attachment points have been heated and loses its crash worthiness “ calling it frame damage! Those front aprons and core supports reworked on unibodies are also frame! So a replacement engine is way down the line for that possible value change! And it’s a brand new hand built shelby GT350 ford authorized replacement! That’s why we get warranties and pencils have erasers ! And To put this into another perspective if you get a large dent in the right rear quarter and have it repaired and repainted are you going to sell the car?

Given that Lime Green is super rare and it’s doubtful you will find another one, I’d get the new engine and keep all of the documentation. Many of the muscle cars of the 60’s blew engines....Z28, Boss 302 and the Hemis....and people still want and buy them with a factory replaced motor. Granted if it’s been replaced with a non factory and no documentation then yes the values can fall. Look on BAT or BF as the classics with a full documented factory motor due just fine but rat rods do not. But in the end it’s your money and if it bothers you then get the buyback.

If it takes a long time,......have Ford make your car payments for the months you don't have your car. It's the least they can do.

They should be able to ship a new motor in a few days and two or three days for the install, if they’ve done it before

Took my car in on a Monday, my service advisor got the paperwork filled out the same day. Ford approved a new motor the next day, and the motor arrived at the dealership on a Wednesday. Ford wanted the dealership to pull the pan to make sure the engine wasn't abused, and got the final green light in a couple business days. The actual install took about 3 days.

Interesting. What would be signs of abuse only apparent after removing the oil pan?
