how many GT350 owners are on this forum ?

According to
The poll 73 engines have failed but I wonder how many owners are represented here- I bet the math comes out to a 1.5% fail rate
There’s probably a way to figure out how many are here, but it’s not every owner and your % is gonna be really high and really off(undoubtedly some signed up here just because their’s blew).

Yeah I’m still struggling with the failure of them to align the bodywork after replacing the motor, keep having issues with the A/C and now getting a periodic vibration in the steering wheel every two seconds when at 90mph. I love the car but Ford techs are shit.

Was you dealer a small town dealer? It sure doesn't sound like they have a plan to service/repair higher end cars like the Shelby.
This is a somewhat smaller dealer, but own several dealers. I do believe the problem is the service manager not follow up on his techs. If it would not been for me taking the car initially, they would never get my service business again. When second engine blew I had it towed to another dealer and they said it would have to go to dealer that put the engine in. Well they lost 2 sales from me, I bought my wife an EcoBoost stand and Explorer.

Take this with a grain of salt:
Last year I had a, let’s say, dealer friend look up the warranty records of 25 of the highest milage (lowest cost) GT350’s within my area. Most were GT350’s, only a few were R’s. It was something like 13% had a replaced engine at least once. If memory serves, all were cars around 15,000-40,000 miles.

From what I've read there were some with double failures. Many youtube videos of idiots doing rev limiter burnouts new off the trailer. I thinking there are a few duplicates here.

When I was searching for GT350s for sale, the cheapest ones usually did have engine replacements. So I don't think looking at warranty records on just the cheapest ones is going to be a good representation of overall replacement rate.

So 3.25 cars? The likeliness of that story being true is about 13%.

I'm near a dealer that I almost talked about buying a 350 from. Now for the last few months after I finally saw it was sold. They have the car sitting there inside the repair center for nearly a month. I'm willing to bet that's the same GT350 from the floor and I bet you that it's waiting on a small bloc. lololololol WTF Ford. I didn't buy that care for that exact reason.
so you settled for a gt?

I guess I was lucky. I received my Gen2 engine and have not looked back. Was done with no errors or issues, just been enjoying my auto. Ford did though bring a tech in for my job....maybe that was the difference.

Hi guys, I just purchased a 2017 GT350 from the dealer. Turned out after a month of driving I had put in 8 quarts of 5W50 Ford oil in it. Took it to the dealer for a consumption test and the picture attached will explain everything that happened to get a new motor installed in the vehicle. To be noted, Ford will try to get you a short block. You have to find the right dealer and tech to fight Ford to get you the long block assembly which means you will get a new full assembly engine. What also is included is a replacement of all one time use parts such as bolts and belts plus the water pump. The intake etc is salvaged and re-used.
i personally did not go back to the dealer who sold it to me because when I stated the oil consumption problem, they said that read the manual, it is supposed to consume oil. I knew it was consuming over what is advertised, so I went to a dealer that knew better. I built a relationship with the tech who was going to work on my engine and also with the staff. They fought for me and got the whole thing replaced. You can see the effort put in by just the notes from the tech, he knew I got a bad car. Basically, when the VIN does not match the engine serial number, the cars value plummets at the dealer so they cannot sell for a higher amount. On the flip side, the private market people know the value of a fresh 'R' engine so the value actually goes up. So I can see why the dealer I bought it from said I should be happy I got a new engine when I let them know about it instead of getting it fixed while it was in their hands even though it was all done under warranty.

In total, the whole service cost 45K CAD, the engine itself it 32K CAD as priced out at the dealer out of which I said put in a new clutch and slave cylinder ($1600 from my pocket) since I did not know how the previous owner drove it. If he was careful the engine would have

already been replaced. thankfully it was all under warranty. The engine I got had a GT350R motor as it is denoted with a serial number starting with 'K' and was labelled GT350R.
Also to be noted, this engine is rated for boost, as its using a GT500 block that uses a supercharger. I will not be boosting mine but I am excited to delete the cats and resonator. Pipes have been ordered and its going to be a fun summer.

I live in Toronto, Canada, if you have questions here I can guide you to the dealer to get you help if you are experiencing problems with your GT350.

Not to nit pick but the engine is not rated for boost. It got the GT500 block but the block is rarely the weak point of a engine from a boost POV.

The BLOCK may be, but the crank, pistons and rods are NOT the same as the GT500.

Yes, you are correct! Its just the block that uses the same material and is beefed up to withstand higher pressures. All other components are Gen2 but nothing to do with the GT500.
