Pretty badass. What was it that he kept pressing on the gear knob and on the iPhone attached to the window?

I was stationed in Germany from 91-94. Driving in that country and on their highways is pure joy.
In the 90s, that was still the case.
Currently, there are many construction sites, especially because of worn bridges.
In addition, there are more people who can't use the rearview mirror.
But basically I'm with you.

I drove in the Netherlands recently, during the day 62 mph is allowed, and it's really tiring.
In contrast, driving in the UK at 70 mph was somehow more pleasant, probably because it wasn't so crowded.

But the speed of the GT500 on the Autobahn is too exhausting in the long run, 100 to 110 mph is a comfortable cruising speed.
The Mustang also provides the right image in the rearview mirror of the car in front, it will make way.
Even most BMW and Mercedes drivers (often Diesel) understand that they are not in the same league regarding power and speed.

that thing got there pretty effortlessly, with no limiter it would probably sail passed 200.
I agree.. with a limiter it let me get to 187. The car has it, you just need to get rid of the limiter and have enough real estate.

My gt also hit 180 on the "autobahn". Although it was a lot more of a struggle to get there.

Seems like a key limitation to top speed on the autobahn has been missed.

Quite a few years ago the fixed info speed signs on the autobahn were replaced with electronic speed signs controllable from a central station. As is the problem globally due to human nature, the concept has been abused by bureaucrats.

The way it works now, as opposed to the good old days is as follows. Many, many times now you will see signs lighting up a speed limit when there is no reason to, such as clear weather and light traffic. The original intent of the electronic signs was to limit speed during heavy traffic, rain, snow, etc. Now we have the global historic human problem - a desire for abuse and control by bureaucrats (greenies, etc.) sitting in some central control center enjoying the new found power over the masses.

I'm sure some are envious of the fabulous cars one always sees, as well as a thrill to limit the enjoyment of those with high performance cars. Needless to say it's enough to drive you crazy to cut speed when there is no weather or logistical reason. Ask me how I know - after many years driving on autobahns.

Unlike in the US the high perfomance car hobby in Germany includes numerous four door cars, and not only two door cars. That's a big hobby difference from here in the US.

The last time I stepped foot in Germany was 2005 for some supplemental training in Stuttgart. I was there for about 3 weeks and wasn’t really out much maybe once or twice in the economy.
Where I live back in the US the speed limit is 75 mph but most folks travel at or around 85 mph. Which honestly is a joy and yes pleasant.
Traveling over any period of time at let’s say over 150 mph is exhausting. You have to keep your eyes peeled while scanning all your mirrors hoping someone just doesn’t jump into The passing lane at let’s say 100-110 as you stated or even worse at half your traveling speed.
When I was there in the 90s I was coming back from Stuttgart, visiting a girlfriend, because at the time I was stationed in Baumholder. I remember I had rented a Golf GTI at the and it was raining and I was driving. The roads where fairly empty (Sunday evening) and it wasn’t raining hard so I was going at a good clip. For some reason I got off the gas pedal to slow down and when we (a buddy of mine was with me) came around a bend a truck had just pulled around another truck trying to pass. Needless to say I saw my life kinda flash in front of my eyes. I was able to slow down and avoid an accident but it was close.
While driving in Germany I really learned a lot on traveling at high rates of speed situational awareness in a car and road courtesy. I definitely think that my experiences on German roads for 3 yrs made me a better and safer driver as an adult here in the US.

I would think an "experienced driver" would at least clean the windshield before attempting high speed runs... on camera.
