You’d think with 689 hp I’d be able to do 240. It’s more than a lot of Ferraris and they go over 220. I figured with that kind of gearing it would chop my top speed. Going 240 would be cool but you’d never see me do it. I’d probably 💩 my pants once I hit 200.
The wind buffeting at 180 is horrendous. The Mustang is not the most aerodynamic.

Won’t the digital display in the middle go over 160? I know the analog stops at 160, but the digital one should go higher. I’m not sure as I haven’t had mine that fast yet. Nowhere where I live would give me the chance to get that high. I’m also pretty sure since I have 4.09 gears that my top speed took a hit. So I might not be able to hit 160 even though I have 689 rwhp.
You can hit 160 easy, but no, the digital display just stops at 160 too unfortunatly.

I was stationed in Germany from 91-94. Driving in that country and on their highways is pure joy.
You ain't kidding. As a Czech now living in the US, I so miss the European (and especially German) lane etiquette.
In the US it's a disaster.

My wife looses her mind when I just move over to the right and then in a few I have to pass another car. I explain to her that the left is for passing and right is for cruising. I hate when people just camp in the left hand lane and you’re stuck. It’s absurd when they say “Well I’m doing the speed limit.” It’s a damn passing lane get out of the way. Idiots

Not to hijack this thread, agree with you. Most people agree they hate this, but deep down are probably part of the problem (not saying you are).

If you aren't taking a left lane exit or actively passing someone or moving over for emergency vehicles, then you're in the wrong lane and need to move right.

Frequently especially on long road trips, the far right lane is actually the emptiest and best. I know you're not supposed to pass from right, but here you can truly cruise properly.

In a 3+ lane highway I travel in the far right lane. It is open for the most part. On a 2 lane highway it’s a bit difficult and that’s when I get frustrated.

Oh, and FWIW, you don't just hop in your 500 in your shorts, T-shirt, and flip flops and go 180 MPH on public streets. Yea, I get it, its the autobahn. I wouldn't think of going that fast unless I went over every detail of the car. Tires, alignment, and a safety check as if I was taking it to the track. Then again, I don't think any public road is safe at 180 MPH, unless you are a former member of this forum.

Over here you do.
There a unlimited sections with almost no traffic and no ramps, perfect for this purpose.
I would only do it, if I'm aware of the state of maintenance of my car and not with flip flops.

But if you get in an accident with flip flops and survive, you have an issue with your insurence, they are not proper shoes for driving by jurisdiction.

GT350 vice GT500, KPH vice MPH, but typical day on the Autobahn.

Not created to post. Pulled arbitrarily from dash cam files.

Note--slow down when approach cars, even if they are in the right lane, because you don't know if they may move left for some unknown reason as you approach. Also, rather than "a mile a minute" (60 mph), you're moving at closer to a mile every 30 seconds. Have to look and plan ahead accordingly.

I don't know why, but the GT500's just don't sound good, at least on video. Maybe the sound is "too effortless" but the wailing 7500rpm redline of a regular Coyote sounds better to me, all the way through. Why is that?

Yeah that makes sense. I know lot of assumptions would be made, but I assume the cars those guys feature on that YT channel are properly set up and checked, plus they take so many cars up to significant speeds that I'd say they got good amount of experience to do it safely.

You would think. But the everyday viewer doesn't know that. Kinda like that kook who was on here a while back (before he was banned) who took his car up to 178 mph on a public Texas road. People look at that and are influenced.

I've driven on the Autobahn when I was TDY in Germany. You really have to know what you are doing. For the most part, people over there are very good drivers who follow the rules. Unlike here in the states with all the left lane vigilantes and people with their heads up their asses, the Germans on the Autobahn are more of a known quantity. That is very similar to being on a track with people who know what they are doing. People generally follow predictive behavior. So, hauling ass on the Autobahn is nothing more than a calculated risk. So is driving on a track. But at those speeds, there is not a whole lot of forgiveness or second chances. One kook, who doesn't know what they are doing, and does something completely unexpected, can ruin your day and kill you.

One final takeaway is that there is an exponential difference between 150, 160, 170, 180, 190, and 200. The further you journey into the right of the scale, the less options you have and the more that can go wrong. At closer to the right scale, I prefer to be on a track in a controlled environment surrounded by trained people with full protective gear (harnesses, HANS, helmet, cage, etc). Delaminate (blow) a tire at those speeds and most people would not be able to recover, especially on a road full of other people.

So anyone who wants to hop in their GT500 and do something similar, understand the potential consequences. Although its legal on the Autobahn, there is an inherent risk associated with driving those speeds. It would be responsible for the folks who make these videos to point out the amount of prep that has gone into the car as well as the inherent risks associated with doing this kind of stuff.
