I guess there are people out there that don't work on thier own stuff, even the simplest of things....

So you didn't reinstall the bellypan?Interesting.... never thought of this as an issue as ive always had a bmr front k-member in all my s550s. Completely free and direct access to the oil filter.
No I did not, not much for it to bolt up to. Im thinking of getting a custom metal pan fabricated with quick release tabs welded onto my bmr subframeSo you didn't reinstall the bellypan?
Oil changes on these cars are pretty simple. If your local dealership can’t do that right, they shouldn’t be employed. Took them longer with all the tools at their disposal than it takes me on jackstands with a few tools.I want to relay my recent experience with an oil change. It was the Mach's first oil change. Took it to the dealer and they said 1 to 1.5 hours. I waited. Car ready. On the way home I smell burning oil in the car. Ok, that's kind of an issue. I think it just may be some spilled oil during the service. Get home and park the car in the garage. Few days later, I take it for a drive and the smell is there again. I pull over and open the hood stick my nose in there and no real oil smell. Can't see any oil either. I smell the front wheel wells, no smell. I smell under the car, no oil smell. I run it home. Pulling in to the garage I notice oil small patches on the concrete. I get under the car from the side and can see a few oil drips coming from the back end of the belly pan by the oil plug. But the plug and pan are clean. I grab a flash light and move to the front of the engine and shine down to the filter area - oil has pooled in the belly pan. Ok, maybe the filter is loose.
At this point I got to get it back to the dealer to see what the hell is going on. I'm not happy to drive the car not knowing what the issue is, but I take it back.
Well, I tell them its leaking oil and tell them its pooling on the belly pan. And I said what ever is the issue you need to take the belly pan off and clean it all up.
So, in the end, the plug and filter were tight. They just spilled a ton of oil when they changed the oil - likely at the filter.
They admitted the horrible job and all is well now.
I (now) know the oil filter is in a rough spot on the front of the engine and accessible only through a small access hatch. Removing the filter can get dodgy and oil will run down on the engine. But, come on Ford dealership. Btw, I'm not going to mention them, we settled up and they made it ok.
I'll probably start changing the oil myself. But owners beware if you take it to a dealer or quick change oil place or mechanic, make sure you feel with them doing the work.
Yep, that's all for today...![]()
I'd expect this from Jiffy Lube, not the dealer....I (now) know the oil filter is in a rough spot on the front of the engine and accessible only through a small access hatch. Removing the filter can get dodgy and oil will run down on the engine.

Some fix, remove the whole pan. When I bought my first Mustang, 2011 GT, I had to tell them it took 8 quarts as that was the first time a 5.0 took 8 quarts; they looked at me like I was crazy. When I took my new 2018 in for a free oil change they knew it took 8 quarts, problem was that now it takes 10 quarts. They put in 8 and when I got home I checked it and found it was low. I no longer take my car to a dealer for an oil change, you just can't trust them. Do it yourself even if you get free oi changes.Ford fixed this with the S650... there is no longer a train hole.. you just have to REMOVE THE WHOLE PAN WITH ALL THOSE CLIPS to change the oil
On what year WRX?.. My 2018 was the easiest ever, fumoto valve and having the filter right there when you pop the hood... it was great.I'd expect this from Jiffy Lube, not the dealer.
I've mostly done my own oil changes (never took the wheels off) and haven't had this kind of spill.
It's easier than changing the oil in my Evo which is, in turn, easier than changing the oil on a WRX.
(Helping a friend with an oil change is a big part of why I never considered a Subaru.)
Regardless, changing the oil yourself is probably the right move.![]()
I had a forester XT, same thing. Super easy, do an oil change in 5min.On what year WRX?.. My 2018 was the easiest ever, fumoto valve and having the filter right there when you pop the hood... it was great.
Local dealership did the exact opposite on my 2017 GT. Replaced the oil with 9.5litres, which is the correct quantity for a 2018 GT, not the 7.6litres that the 2017 requires. Absolute morons can't even identify which car they are working on, let alone perform the correct task.My dealer did not look up the spec or pull the stick and left me 2 quarts down with a dry stick. I checked it in the parking lot and got 2 free quarts of oil.
