Just an 1-1/8" holesaw to clearance that bolt head. Could probably modify it to hug the K member a wee bit tighter, but I was being lazy. There's indexing standoffs for S650 fitment that have nowhere to go on a S550.I didn't think those would fit with the BMR brace. Hmm.
Had a Infinity G35 that had symptoms like you describe, makes more noise when turning and putting side loads into the wheel bearing, noise was coming from the rear of the car. Jacked it up and checked for wheel play, none detected. Rotated the wheels off the ground and nothing stood out - also listened close to the differential when someone else rotated the wheels, no noise from the differential. Changed out the wheel bearings anyway since the car has lots of miles on it. When holding an old bearings in my hand and rotating it I could feel it wasn't smooth like the new bearing. New bearings got rid of the noise.I wish it was so simple. It's a moaning not metallic sound that the volume of the sound doesn't really change just the frequency increases with speed. It's probably a bearing even though there was no play.
When I did wheel bearings on my mk7.5 GTI there was no play, but the roaring was very audible. There’s likely a marred surface on the bearings eating the race. When I got the assembly out, you couldn’t even turn it by hand it was locked up so tight.Today, (had no work today) was the day I was going to get to the bottom of what sounds like a bad wheel bearing. I have a hum that becomes noticeable at maybe 20 mph and increases frequency as speed rises. This happens when going straight, in right turns but disappears while making left turns. Sounds like a wheel bearing if I've ever heard one. Ordered hub/bearing assemblies on Amazon by Moog. This is for the EB coupe work car.
I got the front end up on jackstands and checked for play with the wheels still on. No play and no noise while spinning. No looseness on either side. Tie rods tight and no play to be found on either side. Tires wearing evenly with just a tiny bit of feathering on the outsides. I started taking the drivers side apart, noticed the brakes were about 80% worn out and realized I didn't even have the correct (32mm??) Socket for the spindle nut.
I reassembled everything annoyed and confused slightly and got the car back on the ground. Then I checked the rear wheels for any play. Nothing again. Left/right up/down no movement. Tires worn evenly.
This is more than tire noise and besides, if it were tires, I don't think it would go silent on left hand turns. The volume doesn't change going straight or making right hand sweepers. This is odd.
I would have expected the car to not run that long, but I wonder if the direct injection pump still supplied some fuel?Trying to install this gauge & sensor. Pulled fuel pump fuse #49. Turned car on & it kept running for 20 seconds so I shut it off. Is this not the way to release fuel pressure?
That's what I was thinking as well. I pulled the seat off now, do you happen to know if it's both harnesses under the seat that need to be unplugged for the system to stop pumping?I would have expected the car to not run that long, but I wonder if the direct injection pump still supplied some fuel?
What's up my man?No wayYes, I am still around
