Getting back to the question, how to warn the techs to avoid joy rides? That is my biggest fear. lol
You can try what I did today when I took mine in for the BCM update. Take out your phone and start recording a walk-around video of the car just like they do (capture the mileage and gas level, too). That way you've got one for your own records and they'll be watching you while you slowly cover everything that's not wrong with your car as you leave the key with them. Granted, every dealer's service department is different, but it'll grab the right people's attention. It's the most effective and polite way I've found to say, "don't f with my car."

More crap Ford is more worried about saving a penny…. This is the only way Ford gives you a recall any other way they wait years for it software updates…. what bullshit Band-Aids…. Does seem to work tho. had to get spark plug timing software update when I bought my Mach1 because I had misfires 3 times only had 1000 miles on my 2022 at the time. They didn’t come up with that fixed though until late 2022. I wouldn’t rush. They’ll probably be another one soon.

Some dealers will, others won't. The dealership 50 miles from me- where I bought my car- only travels out 25 miles with mobile service. The dealership that's 5 miles from my house will pick a car up within 20 miles and bring it back once they do the service at their service center, but they won't send a mobile tech to your house. Best to call and make sure.

Our roads are perfect. Just ask our governor Newsom. He must drive a tank to work.
What a joke. Everyone’s leaving and he wants to be P. 😂

One dealer in my area recently started their mobile service, with a 20 mi / 32 km limit.

I had the BCM update accomplished at home. The tech was a fellow enthusiast. We probably spent more time talking cars and his van's setup than doing the update itself. :giggle: Better still, I got a crash course on FDRS, what it looks like and how it works.

I'd like to think more and more dealers will begin offering the mobile service. If available, I'd definitely consider.

I have a '22. I have not been tagged (Ford Pass App, CarFax) with the power steering recall. Maybe '23s only?

It could be worse, my '21 Bronco is up to 5 (or maybe it's 6) recalls now.

Luckily they're all stuff I couldn't care less about (rear seat child locks, etc)

I’m not an automotive tech, I’m just an automotive enthusiast that works in big tech… but if I were one of those dealer tech boys, I would definitely look right into your camera, smile, wink and blow a kiss as I send it in your Mach 1. 🙂

Was looking at my ford pass app today. Looks like they added a second recall for power steering.

When I bought my 2022 gt the salesman said to leave steering in Normal mode, I think he had heard about unintentional steering movement by the computer, I think Normal mode has no correction by the computer. 12k miles and I've never had a steering issue, all in Normal mode.

Thanks, Jerry

From fordaut web site

Affected vehicles: select 2022-2023 Ford Mustang models produced at the Flat Rock Assembly plant between September 15th, 2022 and April 5th, 2023.

I’m shocked this made it past QA. Assuming they made a change in the 2022-2023 models, wouldn’t that change require a new QA regression (test all related components)? The phrase “when attempting to steer” makes me think you can’t steer if the primary sensor fails, and the “crash” may be more likely. I’d love more detail on how the issue was introduced, giving confidence that the impacted vehicles are indeed due for an update.

Agreed. Especially since they state no known failures to date.
