So call one of your engineering buddies at Ford and ask them.
As a matter of fact I did...

He said the U.S. Mustangs equipped with the coyote and a 10AT all have the same torque converter. The Euro specification received an optimized torque converter, along with the normal M1 transmission tuning to offset the lack of power.

But you probably won't believe me as you clearly can't listen to reason. And btw you still haven't found me a part number...

I have the tremec , LOL. But following this I d ask then is the optimized torque converter for euro able to be put into the US spec and then retuned? (or by optimized do you mean re tune?)

Dude, I don't have time to dig in. If you have a reputable source that knows what he's talking about then you might be right, and the part # also makes me believe you. Why they would remove torsen diff and horsepower on the Euro model but upgrade the torque converter doesn't make sense to me though.

I'm not sure, I can ask him! It would be interesting to see if it is compatible, but he said optimized, which doesn't always mean an upgrade from the parts we are used to.

yea, I edited my post and agree what does optimized really mean? maybe just a tune?

Look I don't like digging in with people, but I tried to explain that to you earlier that there wasn't a different part number and it was most likely a euro only part. Articles on the internet are true some of the time but I look at actual part numbers and technical specification sheets. A lot of what goes on in the auto industry doesn't make sense. However, they more than likely changed the torque converter to adhere to the rigorous emission standards for Europe, which is why the hp is down. Cheers :)

Gearing on 10R80 is slightly different on Mach 1 to GT which I didn't know before seeing this
It looks like the numbers listed for the M1 have just been rounded from 3 decimal points to 2 decimal points. The internal gearing ratios changing for the m1 would be a much larger and intensive change than a torque converter. I would be stunned if ford made different internal gears for the 10 speed for any variant.

Even the DSG's in Volkswagens are far superior to the 10R80, not to mention the 8 speed ZF's in BMW's.
Very true. I have a 2019 GTI w/the 7 speed DSG. That transmission is amazing stock and even better after I went with the EQT DSG tune. Far better than the 10 speed in my 2023 Explorer ST, even with the ZFG trans tune.

Believe what you want, I have read it in many places and watched multiple videos where lead ford engineer say it does. Jay Leno rode with him in A10 Mach 1 and he said that there too I believe. nuff said
I wil and I believe 100% carscoops.com is a spam blog site with nobody working for them doing any actual research and digging. I don't read a thing from them anymore because most of it has proven to be junk and a lot of hype about concept and vaporware cars but acting like they're gonna be real. 100% junk site don't trust any info on there without verifying.

Also I love Jay Leno car videos and am a big fan but I routinely spot misinformation said during those interviews, which I attribute to a lot of the guys he talks to not being used to being on camera & being nervous. Wouldn't take everything said on it as fact that is for sure.

Nuf said? 😂

@ChitownStang @Jstang23

Knowing how all companies / marketing departments can be creative, I wonder if there was a running change with the converter that coincided with the year change that the M1 landed.

i.e. they told us the truth, but conveniently omitted to tell us that other variants with the A10 also got the change.

Someone with access to various chassis numbers for both GT’s and M1’s might be able to confirm that one way or another.

A similar check on the euro variants could also be enlightening.

As a long time BMW owner. I will take the MT-82 D4 over any BMW manual tranny. The feel is light years better, and with a set of 4.09 gears alleviates any issues with ratios. Don't even get me started with the Tremec in the Mach1, GT 350 and DH.

The tranny in the BMW is also a Getrag. That being said, the PDK is way better than the 10R80,as it should be for the money. It's funny BMW ditched the DCT for the 8 spd auto, which is also better than the 10R80.
