I’ve searched through a number of threads including the A10 list of issues but couldn’t find anything like what I’m experiencing.

I just got my 2021 GT last month and it’s a blast to drive. That said, I’ve come across an issue and am trying to figure out if it’s a common characteristic of the A10, or if I need to get it checked out.

Whether I’m in automatic shifting or paddle shifting, and in normal or sport mode, if I’m feathering the throttle (driving in parking lot or in traffic) the transmission seems to buck in 3rd or 4th gear between 2 to 3 thousand RPMs. It’s actually really uncomfortable as the driver and it causes a lot of bucking feeling until I hit the throttle and get it out of that RPM range. It doesn’t do it all the time, but it’s annoying as hell when it happens. Is this normal? I have a service appointment next week but don’t want to come off like a dumbass. Thanks in advance!

I'd say not normal - at least not on my 21 gt. Having said that the a10 doesn't like to be lugged (shifted into too high a gear at too low an rpm). Better to drop a gear when going slow. Take the tech for a ride and show them the issue then ask if the TCM can be updated with the latest flash.

the Mustang A10 tuning is seriously crappy. You're barely brushing the throttle, right? The control logic seems to have a 'hunting' problem at small throttle openings. It's happened on rare occasion in the F150 too.

Yeah that’s exactly right. Just really light throttle and feels like it’s trying to throw me out of the car.

Mine was doing something similar - they reset it at dealer, i think all u have to do is unplug battery for a few and then drive under normal conditions to relearn. someone on here can prob be more specific.

It could be your foot. I have noticed this a few times, it stops when I stabilize my foot. I have seen it worse when other people drive my car and try to stay in it. It was not my trans doing it. There are several post on here referencing this phenomenon.

My 19 A10 is smooth. I’d have the dealer verify if it’s not overfilled or under filled. Not as smooth as butter, not not constantly jerking. Once in a while, but like a previous poster mentioned sometimes it’s your foot.

i think you might be right about this. It’s happening to me less than it did than when I first got it, but yeah it doesn’t happen when I keep my foot on it. I guess it just likes to be stepped on :)

Yes, put it on the mat! The only way to drive.

Try to rest your heel on the deck or foot on the tunnel to help stabilize your foot.

Mine does not buck, but I would not say its smooth either. When in sport mode I feel like my manual shifting was smoother than my A10.

I've had this happen a few times. Passenger asked what the hell I was doing, it wasn't me!

I’ve noticed this but only in one location, there is a parking lot I go to some times and there is a bump as I take off through the stop sign there. The bump is shaped just so it makes my foot move slightly and then a chain reaction starts where the car bucks like that. It has not happened any where else.

Yeah that sounds exactly what’s happening to me. It doesn’t happen a lot and now that I think about it, it always happens in a parking lot when I have to turn out over a bump.

I've seen this before in other vehicles. If you have a really low 1st gear in a stick. The throttle is sensitive, and the force required to move the accelerator is minimal. If your foot moves do so some force (bump in the road, acceleration g, etc) it changes the force you are applying, then you try to compensate and get into a loop. Similar thing happens in airplanes, called a pilot induced loop; sometimes in response to a disturbance or sometimes completely self induced.
