The car is scheduled to be picked up tomorrow. The general manager called and offered to install these for free if I'd keep the car. I do like the look of them but not sure about quality. I had schedule a 2 stage paint correction + ceramic coating in 2 weeks. I think they could do the lights, too.

The only reason that I'm remotely considering it is that I feel like it will be difficult to replace this car with a comparable one for the price that I paid. I could wait 6 months and hope that prices come down some.

Some other things I found:
1. Has a UPR Racing catch can installed -- this isn't legal in California so I don't know how they passed emissions with it.
2. Has a stainless steel H pipe of some kind. Fit/finish/install look good this car does seem louder than ones that I'd tested driven before -- now I know why! How much volume increase is there with the resonators removed?
3. All fluid reservoir caps have been replaced by aluminum Ford Motorsports caps.

Car dealers don't give great deals out of the goodness of their heart! Run away!

It's a 1 owner. I'd ask for their phone number or I'd have the dealer call them. I'd ask what was done to the car and why he got rid of it.

I'd also take it to a reputable shop and have it inspected on the dealers dime.

If both of these satisfy me I'd then do like was suggested above. Get a 1200 dollar check and buy OEM take offs.

When I see mods on a car, I walk away. Too many variables beginning with did the installer know what they were doing. The headlights on the car seem to indicate that they don't

Don't know if I would trust them on the offer for the new car either.

Lots of replies. I'm in the "let the dealer buy it back" camp. They took it in, it's their issue to fix or auction it. Then I'd go find myself a great unmodified new (or very slightly used) car.

It was mentioned before that Mustangs (and I'll add "their competitors") are susceptible of questionable mods during their lifetimes and buying a used one with mods can be equally questionable - unless it's proven that they were done correctly.

Personally I had this dilemma and decided to pick up a leftover new 2022 this past March.

Best of luck in whatever you decide

Judging by the number of mods listed I would think a tune is likely on the car too which could cause emissions issues for the OP especially in CA from what I've read on here. And the lights they offered bleh! especially on something as nice as a Bullit.

Now they're dragging their feet and coming up with excuses regarding the buy back.

I'm tired of this s**t. Opened a case with Ford Corporate.

To be honest I would bring the car to them. Call them the day before and tell them your bringing the car tomorrow morning and not leaving until all the paperwork is finalized and submitted and you have a check in hand. Get a friend to go with you and drive you back. They (Corporate and Dealership) will drag this out as long as they can. You'll end up screwed either way unless you take as much as you can into your own hands.

Agreed 100% I thought it might be to good to be true. The offer to buyback came to quickly. There is something off about this car. The catch can itself could possibly cause warranty issues. You do not want any part of this car.

Not sure what this means exactly, but it says does NOT include housings or bulbs.

Also did not find any mention of headlights being covered... Here is the brochure.

Yikes. Kind of explicity excludes the lamp housing there, so... yeah.

Like, that's why you're supposed to take a prospective used car to a 3rd party mechanic who you then pay to do an full inspection for you. They'll give you pages of notes. Sure its a pain, but don't you want to know what you're buying?

Luckily the OP already had the dealership offer to buy it back! So I think he is good there but you're right it does explicitly exclude the lamps.
