What is algorithm to calculate oil change?

So I get in my 2023 Mach 1 yesterday to get it out of its winter hibernation. The Change Oil message came on. What is the algorithm used to determine oil change? The car has 1500 miles but I have had it just over a year. So I can see that there may be a time component to calculating the oil change duration. It certainly can't be milage. The car is store in a heated garage during winter (radiant floor heat system is nice). Unfortunately work keeps me from home a lot to enjoy the toys. Thanks.

I do 10,000 miles on a load of Mobil 1 and just reset the Trip 2 counter to 0. Whatever time of year it happens to be is when it gets changed. Mind you, I'm on my first oil change right now.

I don’t think your oil is bad. But I would run it up to 2,000-2500 miles before doing the first oil change.

Did mine at 2,500 miles at the dealership. Then at 7500 miles I did my second oil change. Then at 12,500 I changed to Amsoil. The car is close to 15,000 miles and there’s no typewriter tick or RPM rattle.

I had it before my first change and haven't noticed a difference after.

I no longer fear the typewriter tick. When I got it after my second oil change, I cured it with Liqui Moly Ceratec.

My reminder was on today as well. I just hit 1200 miles. It has to be on a once a year thing. It wasn't on 3 weeks ago when I pulled it out of storage (and then it snowed) and I just got it back out today. I'll do a change and get that factory oil out of it. I took delivery on 3 31 23.

I will tell you that when I run E70 in the summer the oil monitor goes down twice as fast so it must notice the Viscosity change in the oil from E fuel

I mentioned this in post 14. If yours is a flex tune then it accounts for inferred ethanol content in the oil life calculation and it's a 2:1 ratio at anything over E65.

I say 10,000 klm or once a year.

I’ve posted this before, here it is again for those who maybe have never seen it regarding OLM operation and how it functions, per the shop manual:

The timer also counts down as the car sits. So for those wondering why their Oil Life Monitor is saying you need an oil change when you have only driven 500 miles since last oil change BUT the car has been in the garage for 6 months consecutively... The above is your answer.

And just to add something I had seen posted somewhere, apparently the OLM ticks down 1.92% a week when not driving the car
