It is an issue on the F150 but the conditions have to be just right for this to occur. Fords solution was to cover about 15% of the intercooler with a plastic shield to reduce the efficiency. Crazy but true...Don't shoot the messenger just verifying some of the other comments posted above. I have a 2012 F150 Ecoboost and it is all over the F150 forums if you want more info.

2015 F-150 uses its lower grille shutters on the 2.7L and 3.5L Ecoboost engines to control cooler efficiency and provide a fuel economy benefit when it can.

It isn't necessarily going to be a problem with the S550, but I'd guess the grille shutters on the EB are there for a reason...

Meth/Water AND IC?

I just ordered a meth water injection kit (sprays into the turbo inlet). I've researched the pros and cons for a month so I know it's what I want to do.

My question is this: Do I still need to buy an aftermarket IC? I know the meth/water injection will reduce my temps enough to not need an aftermarket IC to maintain temps, but what about airflow? Does the stock IC restrict airflow to the point that not enough air is making it to the turbo, even it's being cooled at the turbo?

Does anyone know if FRPP is gonna release an intercooler and charge pipe upgrade for the EcoBoost?

No kidding. I guess they think it's made out of unobtainium or some other precious metal . I'm quite happy with my Levels Performance IC, and can't wait until Nik gets the charge pipes done.
Same issue when it came to ordering a FMIC for my '13 fx4. I ended up with Full-Race's $1400 unit. It was hard to convince myself to pull the trigger, but I couldn't be happier with the results.

I don't mind spending the $$ on something like a turbo upgrade, but for the IC, I wasn't going there. If it was a big FMIC like I had on my Buicks, then maybe...but the ones for our cars, that's a negative ghost rider . FR definitely has some bad ass stuff though, as do MAP and the other companies.

I was on the fence between Levels FMIC/MAP FMIC and did some looking at the two sizes:

Levels: 20x11x3.5=770 for surface area
MAP: 26x6x5=780 for surface area

Looks like the are very close, just a different way of doing it.

Went with MAP at the end but I can't see anyone going wrong with either company.
