Does the MMR intercooler require any modifications to the car? if so, what mods will be required?

On the fence between the MMR and MAP intercooler atm. Was interested in the vortech until i saw that they think they made it out of solid platinum and charged accordingly.

Other than simply installing it - no/none.

IC

MAperformance makes a IC upgrade. There products have great craftmannship and are nice to look at. Check them out. MAperformance.com .. I recently bought the cat-back delete muffler system from them. Had a problem getting the cat-back delete to fit onto my turbo. We called them and MAperformance paid for the shopping for me to send the DP back and gave me a huge discount on the adapter to connect the new mufflers to the old system while I waited for them to fix the DP. The DP was fixed and shipped back and it works great.. The customer service is great.

I ordered the MAP IC kit with charging pipe and bov, should be here soon. I chose due to ease of install without removing bumper, craftmanship and solid performance. I'm not planning on hp over 500 at any point so this one seemed to fit my needs. I also have the MAP CAI so wanted the same look. I will posts pics once received and installed.

So far the MAP intercooler is the only one that you can install without pulling bumper correct? This is a selling point for me as body panels can be a bitch when realigning

Yes; removing the bumper is not hard at all though and goes right back into place, no re-alignment necessary; it has clips on both sides and bolts in so it would be hard to get it out of alignment.

I know its not difficult but on all the cars I have worked on (Mine and Friends) there was a 30-40% shot of it not being aligned perfectly. Now I am speaking about german cars, specifically the GTI which I work on frequently and VW uses plastic tabs that tend to bend when putting the bumper back on.

Since I have not removed the bumper from a FORD this may be a different experience but I can only speak from my recent jobs.

Since the MAP intercooler has the same cooling diameter as many others I think that not having to remove the front bumper is a solid benefit even though it is not a "must have feature".
