I know it's hard to see... But that's a 4" "CAI" pipe below my front bumper!
A lot has changed since this post, I've switched to a full size intercooler and am running a dual 3"x3"x4" intake, feeding an aftermarket turbocharger!

Has anyone drilled holes on the intake side of the grill? That plate is blocking air into the intake. That is open on the GT grill. Wonder if drilling some of it out will increase performance slightly...
I know this is an old post, but the area behind the grill becomes a low pressure area which is good for pulling in air.

I used a dremel tool with a grinding bit to open all the diamonds on the left side of the grill to match the inlet duct of the airbox inlet shape for maximum airflow from ram air at speed. I cannot say if it improved or hurt the flow into the airbox/intake tube but my IATs stay very close to ambient temps in the summer and a few degrees below in winter when at any speed above 40 mph.
